The Giants are playing good baseball and trying to chase down the Dodgers. Even though they lost two over the weekend against Colorado they have won 9 of 11 including a big time sweep of L.A. where they shutout the Dodgers for three straight games. It is definitely not a coincidence that this run of play coincided with the return of Hunter Pence to the lineup. He has played 10 games and hit .342 but more importantly the team has its emotional spark plug back.
On the mound MadBum has picked up where he left off last year. In his last start he pitched 6 scoreless innings out dueling Clayton Kershaw, even hitting a home run off the dominating lefty. No he is not perfect but when he is on the mound the Giants have a great chance to win the ball game. He is good in pretty much all situations too so as long as the value is there you can back him.
The Brewers continue to sink. They returned home on Monday but couldn’t stop their losing streak and there is little hope for improvement from what we have seen over the first quarter of the season. The only piece of good news is that Ryan Braun seems to have found his power stroke – he is 4th in the NL in homers. If they are going to try and make their season more respectable someone else is going to have to start producing…I am looking at you Carlos Gomez.
Matt Garza is a quality pitcher but I have thought he was overrated for some time now and this season he has gotten off to a terrible start. Yes his numbers look worse because he gave up 10ER in three innings a couple starts back but even still he is walking too many guys and not striking enough out to avoid getting in trouble. He has been better at home this season but has yet to win a game there this season.
MLB Betting Trends:
Over is 6-1-1 in SF last 8 road games.
SF are 8-2 in their last 10 overall.
SF are 8-2 in their last 10 games on grass.
Over is 8-3-1 in MIL last 12 home games.
Under is 11-5 in MIL last 16 Tue. games.
MIL are 14-30 in their last 44 games as an underdog.
MLB Betting Prediction: San Francisco -144
Score Prediction: San Francisco 5 – Milwaukee 1
It is hard to make a case for the Brewers these days. San Fran is a significant favourite so you might want to take a pass or look on the runline to justify the investment.
