Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol have been in and out of the Los Angeles Lakers’ lineup all season. Kobe Bryant managed to avoid missing extended time despite a severe ankle sprain that may still be holding him back. Now Metta World Peace is expected to miss some time due to a torn meniscus. The dream has been more of a nightmare for the Lakers and their fans this season, and they will have their backs against the wall as they look to squeeze their way in to the postseason with a tough schedule the rest of the way. They could get some reprieve when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night, although they did lose the one game they played at Sleep Train Arena earlier in the year.
Los Angeles Lakers @ Sacramento Kings
Saturday March 30, 2013 – 10:00 PM ET
Sleep Train Arena, Sacramento, California
NBA Sportsbook Line: Los Angeles – 7.5
The Kings are once again among the worst teams in the NBA, but there is at least some reason for optimism going forward. Sacramento has some quality young pieces including Tyreke Evans and DeMarcus Cousins, but has to do a better job of developing that talent and surrounding them with the quality pieces to get to that next 5Dimes level.
NBA Betting Pick: Los Angeles Lakers
Injuries have taken their toll on this Lakers’ team in 2013, but the truth is that the veteran status of many of their core players should have served as a warning that this could happen. Los Angeles has managed to fight through bumps and bruises and inconsistent play all year, and the truth is that with so much talent in their lineup there are going to be nights where one or two players can steal an online sports betting game. The Lakers will turn to Howard and Gasol to carry the brunt of the load when they get to Sacramento on Sunday, with the wild card being Kobe as he continues to play through injury.
NBA Betting Pick: Sacramento Kings
The Kings have been relatively healthy this year compared to the Lakers, but they are also a lot less talented in comparison. Cousins is a dynamic player that can put up big numbers on the boards and in terms of scoring, but his immaturity is maddening at times and there aren’t enough quality veterans around him to maximize his potential. Sacramento does have a talented backcourt tandem in Evans and Isaiah Thomas, who have combined to average 29 points and over seven assists this sports betting season, but once agin the problem is a lack of quality players around them to maximize what they can do.
NBA Betting Pick: Outlook & Pick
Even with the injuries the Lakers are the much better team, and should be able to rely on Howard and Gasol as they try and get the win. The problem is that they don’t have the weapons t cover such an inflated number, which means Sacramento will get the cover.
