Miami Heat vs. San Antonio Spurs Preview
The Heat crushed the Spurs to even this series at 1-1, but with San Antonio winning Game 1 they now have home court advantage in this series. The Spurs did not shoot the ball well in Game 2 with Tony Parker and Tim Duncan struggling and if they struggle in this game they may lose and give back home court in this finals’ series. NBA lines have the Spurs as slight 2-point favorites with a total of 187.5.
In Game 2 the Heat beat the Spurs 103-84.
On the season the Heat are 56-44 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 49-48-3 and the Spurs are 50-46-2 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 43-53-2.
This season the Spurs are 41-7 at home and the Heat are 34-14 on the road.
The Spurs only shot 41% from the floor in Game 2 and Duncan and Parker only combined for 22 points on a combined 8/27 shooting. Obviously, these guys are key, especially Parker, as how he goes the Spurs go.
The Heat shot 49.4% from the field in Game 2 and while LeBron James and Dwyane Wade did not have great shooting nights Chris Bosh and Mario Chalmers combined for 31 points and each shot at least 50% from the floor. The Spurs have to keep other people besides James and Wade from having big scoring nights and if they can do that they will be in good shape.
Since the heat joined the league they are only 3-22 in San Antonio, but one of those wins came this season.
The Heat had turnover problems in Game 1, but in Game 2 they only committed 6 while the Spurs had 16.
The Spurs only trailed by 3 points at halftime in Game 2, but the Heat went on a huge run in the 2nd half to easily win the game. The Spurs have to use the crowd in this game and not let the Heat take them out of the game.
In some betting trends for this finals’ match up the Heat are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 road games, 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. win, and they have an Under record of 5-0 in their last 5 games.
The Spurs are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall, 15-6-1 ATS in their last 22 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points, and they have an Over record of 5-1 in their last 6 home games.
Jason’s Pick: I think this game will be a very close and the Heat will not only cover the 2-point spread, but they will also win and take a 2-1 lead in this series.
