Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Golden State Warriors
The Cavaliers and Warriors meet in game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday. Lebron James and Iman Shumpert both failed to hit buzzer beating shots as time expired in Game 1 and it ultimately led to their doom as Golden State pulled away in overtime. The loss also came at a giant price as Kyrie Irving fractured his kneecap in overtime and is out the remainder of the series.
The loss of Irving shifted the line about 2-3 points. The Warriors covered the -6 number in Game 1 with an 8 point overtime win, but now open as 8 point favorites with Irving out. Golden State has been very good S.U. and ATS at home this season. They bring in a 47-3 S.U. home record and a 30-19-1 ATS record.
As for the Cavaliers on the road, they are 28-21 S.U. and 23-26 ATS.
What bettors will need to watch for is how Cavaliers PG Matthew Dellavedova will play. He will get a majority of the time at PG with Irving out so not only will he have to pick up the scoring, he’ll also likely have the task of guarding Steph Curry. The Cavs could also do a little maneuvering around and put Dellavedova on Thompson, but either way the task will be tough for the Australian point guard.
Warriors backers loved the play of Andre Iguodala in Game 1 as he went for 15 points on 6 of 8 shooting. If plays like that in Game 2, the Warriors will have no problem covering the number.
That being said, Cleveland still does have Lebron James, who started to take the game over in the 4th quarter of Game 1. Expect James to carry the team essentially on his back with Irving out. If Cleveland is going to win here in Game 2, it is solely going to be on Lebron.
The market is seeing some shifting action toward the Cavaliers both on the spread and money line. Expect this game to stick around the 7.5 or 8 point mark though as Golden State money will start to flow back in as game time gets closer.
NBA Handicapping Trends:
- Cavaliers are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games playing on 2 days rest.
- Cavaliers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS loss.
- Warriors are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.
- Warriors are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 Sunday games.
Free 4* ATS Pick: Cleveland +8
This number is just too high to pass up on. Lebron James will keep Cleveland close though out the entire game. Back Cleveland here in Game 2.
