MLB Betting Total: 8
The Angels (28-26) arrive in the Big Apple as losers of their last two following a five-game win streak. They are 5 1/2 games behind the AL West leading Houston Astros and will hope that they can put a little distance between them and the Texas Rangers in the standings.
LA dropped a close 6-5 contest to the Rays the last time out, despite getting some good offensive production from shortstop Erick Aybar, who picked up an RBI versus Tampa Bay after coming into the game with a 10-game hitting streak and hits in 21 of his previous 22 games. Slugger Albert Pujols also had an RBI and a pair of hits and arrives in New York just two home runs shy of matching Mickey Mantle for 16th on the all-time list with 536.
Meanwhile. the Yankees (29-25) completed a three-game sweep in Seattle with a 3-1 victory that completed a 4-3 road trip.
New York’s recent success can be attributed to good starting pitching, along with a back-end bullpen that has been unhittable. Closer Andrew Miller has converted all 17 of his save opportunities, while set-up pitcher Dellin Betances hasn’t surrendered a single run in nearly 30 innings this season.
The Bombers will send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound in Game 1. The 25-year-old is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in two starts against Los Angeles. Eovaldi posted a no-decision his last time out after struggling in a 5-3 win at Oakland. The right-hander gave up a season-high 11 hits and three runs in 4 2/3 innings to the A’s. He has now given up 26 hits in his last 16 innings.
LA will counter with red-hot Jered Weaver, who after starting 0-4 on the season has reeled off four wins, including a 8-6 victory over Detroit on Saturday. The 32-year-old right-hander is 7-4 with a 5.47 ERA in 14 career starts versus New York, but is 1-2, in four outings at Yankee Stadium.

Angles— The Halos haven’t won a series with New York since 2008, and are 22-27 versus the Yankees since. However, the Yankees have the worst record for home game wins among the MLB’s division leaders, going 12-10 at Yankee Stadium this season. So, I’m taking the Angles here, with a red-hot Weaver on the mound.
