The Phillies’ struggles know no bounds, for they made Tim Adleman look dominant in Friday’s 5-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.
Adleman gave up one hit in eight innings to get his third win of the season. He walked two and needed exactly 100 pitches to get the 24 outs.
The Reds jumped out in front early with two runs in the first and another in the second. Adam Duvall hit his 11th home run, Scott Schebler his 14th.
Bronson Arroyo continues his comeback tour on Saturday afternoon. He found trouble in the sixth inning against the Rockies in his last start and got the hook after allowing six runs on nine hits. The opponent is hitting .286 against Arroyo this season.
Aaron Nola gave up the two home runs on Friday night but both were solo shots. Two walks hurt him, too. He did strike out five in six inning in what was not his best start, though.
Jerad Eickhoff makes his 10th start of the season on Saturday, looking to snap a streak of five straight losing starts. He’s lost four of those five starts himself and the Phillies are just 1-8 in Eickhoff’s nine starts to this point.
He isn’t that bad, though. Eickhoff’s WHIP is 1.43 and he’s got 47 punch-outs to 18 walks. He’s averaging about 5.2 innings every start, too.
The Phillies’ offense did show a little life to finish Friday night’s game. Once Tim Adleman came out of the game, Philadelphia put two runs on the board, which didn’t affect any runlines or totals.

Free Cincinnati Reds vs. Philadelphia Phillies MLB Prediction: Eickhoff finally gets a win.
We hit the underdog with Cincinnati on Friday. On Saturday afternoon I expect Eickhoff to be ok but for his offense to finally help him to his first win of the season against Arroyo.
4* Free MLB Betting Pick: Phillies (-140)
I am not thrilled to have to pay this price for Philly but I do suspect it cashes. The over is the other angle.
