Brian Bowles To Make His MMA Return At UFC 160 This May
The UFC 160: Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2 Pay Per View event is still two months away, but that hasn’t kept it from making online sports betting headlines in recent days. While the main focus has been on upcoming MMA events, the anticipation is building for UFC 160 as another key bout has been added to the main card. Popular bantamweight Brian Bowle is set to make his highly anticipated return to the Octagon this May, as the UFC announced he will take on George Roop at UFC 160 following an 18-month hiatus from the sport. With UFC Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez set to defend his title against Antonio Silva, and former champion Junior Dos Santos ready to clash with Mark Hunt, the addition of Bowle’s fight means the UFC 160 card will be absolutely stacked.
The former WEC champion has been away from the sport for close to two years now, and with that there are sports betting players that question what kind of shape he is in. There haven’t been many reports on why he took so much time away from the sport, and while the reason for his hiatus is still unknown, the truth is that at 32-years old he still has the potential to make some noise in the bantamweight division. Bowles won back-to-back fights over Damacio Page and Takeya Mizugaki in the UFC before losing to Urijah Faber in a bantamweight title eliminator back in November of 2011, and hasn’t fought since. With all of the hype around his return, there is no better opponent to pin him against then the former TUF participant in Roop.
After beating Reuben Duran at the UFC 158 Pay Per View, Roop is ready to go up against a former champion in order to see where he is at overall. One of the tallest fighters in the division, Roop has the natural physical traits to become a dominant fighter in the bantamweight class if he can continue his development. Bowles will be the online sportsbook favorite to win this fight, but Roop is very dangerous and capable of pulling out an upset. The heavyweight bouts on the main card will generate the most interest and hype, but MMA enthusiasts will love the addition of this bout to the UFC 160 event. Neither one of these fighters is the title conversation right now, but the winner will definitely have his stock boosted in that department as we move forward.
As for any decisions for other UFC 160 matches, it appears as though the 5Dimes main card has already been established. Glover Teixeira will get his shot at James Te-Huna in the light heavyweight division, and Gray Maynard will clash with TJ Grant in a lightweight bout. The UFC 160 event is still two months away and there is a lot to look forward until then, but the addition of Bowle to an already stacked main card has UFC 160 trending right now.
