Game 1: Memphis Grizzlies @ Washington Wizards – Monday, March 25
At various betting websites in North America or the United Kingdom, you’re not going to have to think very long or hard about this contest. You don’t have to be a legal online sports betting genius in order to realize that the Memphis Grizzlies are playing some big-time ball right now. The Griz have beaten the Los Angeles Clippers on the road and the Oklahoma City Thunder at home in the past week and a half. The addition of Tayshaun Prince, coupled with the subtraction of Rudy Gay, has made Memphis a better team, especially at the defensive end of the floor.
The Grizzlies’ win over Oklahoma City on March 20 was so impressive because Memphis held the potent Thunder under 90 points in an overtime contest. That’s a Herculean feat on defense. Memphis acquired longtime NBA writer and researcher John Hollinger during this season, adding the the statistical analyst to its front office. Clearly, the move has paid off, and now the Grizzlies have a legitimate chance of moving upward in the Western Conference’s playoff hierarchy. They’ve risen to third place at this point and now have a realistic shot at catching Oklahoma City for second place. They should overwhelm a Washington team that lost to the lowly Charlotte Bobcats this past week.
NBA Betting Pick: Memphis
Game 2: Miami Heat @ Orlando Magic – Monday, March 25
When you pore over the numbers in an online sportsbook, it’s clear that while the Magic overcame a 20-point deficit and came within one basket of beating the Heat a few weeks ago in Miami, you just can’t choose Orlando in this game. Miami is currently working on a 24-game winning streak and is showing a remarkable amount of determination in second halves and late-game situations. The Heat trailed the Cleveland Cavaliers by a 67-40 score midway through the third quarter of a contest on March 20, only to roar down the stretch for a 98-95 victory.
Miami is not dominating teams in the first halves of games, but it is doing so in the second halves, and with that kind of confidence in a locker room, how can a bettor possibly doubt the Heat against a low-rent team such as the Magic? Don’t overcomplicate matters here; take the Heat and move on.
NBA Betting Pick: Miami
Game 3: Atlanta Hawks @ Indiana Pacers – Monday, March 25
When you step up to the betting window to make an NBA betting pick or a college football betting play, you should look for road teams that inspire confidence. The Atlanta Hawks are not that type of team. Atlanta will make the playoffs once again, but the Hawks are not doing anything to suggest that they can win a playoff series this season. They were undressed at the defensive end of the floor by the Dallas Mavericks this past week.
They got healthy against the Milwaukee Bucks a few days later, but that’s no special feat. Atlanta is not as tough or as disciplined as Indiana is. The Pacers are also a very strong team on their home floor in Indianapolis. Their size and length near the rim, with Roy Hibbert and David West, should be able to neutralize Al Horford and Josh Smith of the Hawks. Take Indiana here – it’s the smart and sensible play.
