05-05-16 | Nationals +133 v. Cubs | Top | 2-5 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 11 m | Show |
Nationals It’s beginning to look like the Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals might be on a crash course for a date in the National League playoffs. The teams will give fans a preview of what such a matchup would look like when the Cubs host the Nationals for a four-game series beginning Thursday. Ross made his major-league debut for Washington against the Cubs last June and took the loss, allowing three runs over five innings. The 22-year-old has not allowed more than one run in any of his four outings this season and shut down a tough Cardinals lineup last time out. He gave up one run and six hits over six frames to win his fifth straight decision dating to last season.Nationals are 5-0 in Ross' last 5 starts. Hendricks is winless in his last three starts for the Cubs, but he got back on track last time out after a couple of uneven outings but has still struggled this season. While it’s tough to go against the Cubs I really like the value in the underdog Nats. |

05-04-16 | Mariners -112 v. A's | Top | 9-8 | Win | 100 | 3 h 27 m | Show |
Mariners Felix Hernandez looks to continue his mastery of Oakland hitters when the Seattle Mariners attempt to complete a three-game sweep of the host Athletics on Wednesday. Hernandez struck out 10 in seven shutout innings against Oakland in a no-decision earlier this season and boasts a 22-8 record and 2.58 ERA in 41 career starts versus the Athletics. Hernandez gave up three hits and two walks in the April 10 outing in Seattle and would like to receive the same type of offensive support that occurred Tuesday when the Mariners had three homers among 13 hits in an 8-2 victory. Hernandez has been superb despite the lack of victories and has held opposing hitters to a .165 batting average. He has given up five or fewer hits in all five of his outings and has allowed one earned run or less in four of them. Hernandez, who has a 1.09 career WHIP against Oakland. |

White Sox Left-hander Chris Sale has been instrumental in the Chicago White Sox's fast start to the season and will go for his major league-leading sixth victory in the finale of a four-game series at Baltimore on Sunday. The White Sox outlasted Baltimore 8-7 on Saturday night after dropping the first two games of the series. Sale has allowed one earned run over 24 innings spanning his last three starts, helping Chicago tie a franchise record with 17 wins in the month of April. Jimenez has regressed following an outstanding season debut in which he struck out nine, did not walk a batter and permitted one earned run over seven innings to beat the Minnesota Twins. He has battled control issues during a winless three-start stretch, walking 11 over 16 innings, and has received only six runs of support during that span. |

04-27-16 | Royals v. Angels -132 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 32 m | Show |
Angels The Los Angeles Angels have at least temporarily ended their recent struggles against Kansas City and look to finish off a three-game sweep of the Royals in Wednesday's home contest. Los Angeles had lost 10 of 11 games to Kansas City — including suffering a three-game sweep in the 2014 American League Division Series — before winning the first two games of this series by a cumulative 15-5. Young lost his first three starts before rebounding in impressive fashion to defeat Baltimore on Friday. He struck out a season-best 10 in six innings and gave up two runs and four hits. Young is 4-3 with a 5.29 ERA in 11 career appearances (10 starts) against the Angels and has yet to retire right fielder Kole Calhoun (4-for-4, one homer). Tropeano has allowed just three runs in three starts but has yet to make it out of the sixth inning. 04-26-16 | Cardinals -125 v. Diamondbacks | Top | 8-2 | Win | 100 | 8 h 21 m | Show |
Cardinals The Arizona Diamondbacks bolstered their starting rotation this offseason with the high-profile additions of Zack Greinke and Shelby Miller, but so far the results have not been there. After Greinke struggled and was bailed out by the offense, Miller looks to get into the groove when the Diamondbacks continue a four-game series with visiting St. Louis on Tuesday.Miller carries an ugly 8.59 mark into this one. Martinez has lasted seven innings in each of his last two starts and limited the Chicago Cubs to one run and three hits his last time out. Opponents are batting just .178 against the 24-year-old, who is 1-0 with a 2.93 ERA in five games (two starts) against Arizona. Current Diamondbacks are a combined 10-for-52 with no extra-base hits against Martinez. Lay the price with St. Louis. |

04-26-16 | White Sox -119 v. Blue Jays | Top | 10-1 | Win | 100 | 6 h 47 m | Show |
White Sox The Chicago White Sox entered the series relying on a pitching staff that leads the American League in runs allowed but is learning that the offense can pick up the team if necessary as well. The White Sox will try to clinch a series win when they visit the Toronto Blue Jays in the second of a three-game series on Tuesday. Chicago worked an extra day of rest into the schedule for Sale by calling up Miguel Gonzalez for the start on Monday. Sale dominated in his last two starts, striking out nine in a two-hit shutout at Tampa Bay on April 15 and giving up an unearned run on two hits over seven innings in a win over the Angels on Wednesday. The Florida native, who did not issue a walk in either of those last two starts, is 2-2 with a 2.57 ERA in six career games – three starts - against Toronto. Dickey started twice against Chicago last season and was knocked around for seven runs in 12 total innings while going 0-1. Great value here with the White Sox and Sale. |

04-23-16 | Dodgers -130 v. Rockies | Top | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 8 h 38 m | Show |
Dodgers The Colorado Rockies look to extend their home winning streak to four games as they host the Los Angeles Dodgers in the middle contest of their three-game series on Saturday. Colorado broke even on its six-game road trip before continuing its recent success at Coors Field by posting a 7-5 triumph in the opener on Friday. Maeda will face the stiffest test of his brief major-league career, which has gotten off to a tremendous start, as he attempts to continue his outstanding run in the high altitude of Coors Field. The 28-year-old from Osaka, Japan worked six scoreless innings in each of his first two starts before allowing his first run over seven frames in a 3-1 triumph over San Francisco on Sunday. 04-21-16 | Blue Jays -103 v. Orioles | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -103 | 5 h 26 m | Show |
Blue Jays The Baltimore Orioles and the Toronto Blue Jays own two of the most powerful lineups in baseball, but Wednesday’s meeting was decided by a ball that didn’t even travel 50 feet. The Blue Jays will try to get over the sting of losing on a walk-off passed ball when they visit the Orioles for the rubber match of the three-game series on Thursday. Estrada dominated Boston at home over seven scoreless innings in his first start on April 10 but could not muster the same effort at the Red Sox on Saturday. The California native was reached for four runs on eight hits over six frames to suffer the loss. Estrada is getting his first look at a different lineup and was strong in six games – four starts – against Baltimore last season, going 2-1 with a 3.42 ERA and a .152 batting average against. Tillman is 4-10 with a 5.79 ERA in 20 career starts against Toronto after getting hammered for 33 runs in 25 1/3 innings over six starts against the Blue Jays last season. 04-20-16 | Dodgers -132 v. Braves | Top | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 5 h 10 m | Show |
Dodgers Through 13 games the Atlanta Braves have been really bad – as evidenced by nine consecutive losses to open 2016 – and really good, carrying a four-game winning streak into Wednesday’s home contest with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Atlanta, which a week ago looked historically horrible during a 0-9 start, extended its winning streak with an 8-1 victory over the Dodgers in Tuesday’s series opener. Los Angeles entered the series having won four of its past five and had allowed more than four runs just twice in its first 13 games before Tuesday. Originally slated to start Tuesday’s series opener, Teheran was bumped back to Wednesday’s middle game due to an illness. He has struggled after allowing only two runs in six innings on opening day, surrendering 11 runs (10 earned) on 12 hits in 11 innings in losses to the Cardinals and Nationals. Teheran has thrown four wild pitches (tops in the National League) and is tied for third in homers allowed (four) in the NL. Stripling’s major-league debut captured plenty of headlines – 7 1/3 no-hit innings with one run allowed in a no-decision April 8 against San Francisco – but his second start was solid as well. The 26-year-old gave up two runs on five hits in six innings with only one walk and five strikeouts last Thursday against Arizona. Stripling has held opponents to a .116 batting average, and has given up only two extra-base hits in 43 at-bats. Dodgers are 14-3 in their last 17 after scoring 2 runs or less in their previous game. Braves are 17-39 in their last 56 vs. a team with a winning record. |

04-19-16 | Angels v. White Sox -115 | Top | 0-5 | Win | 100 | 7 h 3 m | Show |
White Sox The Los Angeles Angels didn't waste much time putting their three-game losing streak to bed while adding to the offensive troubles of the Chicago White Sox. After a five-run first inning set the tone in the series opener, the Angels look to hand the White Sox a another loss on Tuesday as the clubs continue their four-game set at U.S. Cellular Field. Shoemaker answered a rough debut with a stellar outing on Wednesday, allowing just one hit in six scoreless innings en route to a 5-1 win over Oakland. The 29-year-old is looking to make the most of his starts while left-hander Tyler Skaggs rehabs his ailing elbow at Triple-A Salt Lake. Shoemaker would love to exact revenge against Chicago after it recorded seven runs and nine hits over 5 2/3 innings in their last encounter to suffer the loss. Latos has enjoyed a strong start out of the blocks this season, allowing totals of one run and four hits in a pair of six-inning efforts to emerge victorious against Oakland (April 7) and Minnesota (Thursday). The 28-year-old already is halfway to his win total of last year, with all four of those coming with Miami before he saw limited time with both the Angels and Los Angeles Dodgers. |

04-19-16 | Blue Jays -135 v. Orioles | Top | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 6 h 58 m | Show |
Blue Jays The Baltimore Orioles have cooled since their historic start with losses in three of the last four games. The Orioles will have had two full days off to get their momentum changed when the host the Toronto Blue Jays in the opener of a three-game series on Tuesday. The Orioles' pitching staff was strong the first time through the rotation but started to show some cracks on the second turn while surrendering an average of 5.8 runs in the last six games. Stroman sandwiched two quality starts around one dud in his three outings and limited the New York Yankees to two runs on three hits and two walks in eight innings to earn a win on Thursday. The Duke product went eight frames on opening day as well but was knocked around for five runs and six hits in 5 1/3 innings without factoring in the decision against Boston on April 8. Stroman faced Baltimore on Sept. 30 last season and scattered one run and five hits over eight innings while striking out eight to pick up a win. Wright was skipped the first time through the rotation but will avoid another skip despite the rainout on Sunday, with the Orioles electing to push everyone back a day instead. Wright was knocked around for four runs on five hits and a walk in five innings at Boston in his first start on April 12 but got enough support from the offense to come out of it with a win. The 26-year-old was knocked around by Toronto during his 2015 rookie campaign, going 0-2 with a 9.45 ERA in three appearances – two starts. |

He’s a competitor.” Chase Utley is 6-for-15 with a home run against the 2014 NL All-Star, who owns a 1-2 record with a 4.91 ERA in four career appearances (two starts) against the Dodgers. Astros Home cookin' never tasted so good for Dallas Keuchel, who won all 15 of his decisions and posted a 1.46 ERA in 18 starts at Minute Maid Park last season. The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner looks to continue his success at home on Friday when the Houston Astros host the Detroit Tigers in the opener of a three-game series. The misfiring Astros are in need of any semblance of good news after suffering their third straight loss and seventh in nine outings with a 6-2 setback to Kansas City on Thursday. Pelfrey followed his strong performance in spring training by matching the cold temperatures in his season debut on Saturday, allowing six runs on eight hits in 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the New York Yankees. Keuchel had no issues taming the Tigers in his dominating home stretch last season, allowing just one run and striking out eight in seven frames in a 5-1 win on Aug. 14. The White Sox, who opened last season 0-4, finished a sweep of the slumping Minnesota Twins with a 3-1 victory on Thursday and have allowed just six runs in their last five victories. Chicago (7-2), which will send All-Star left-hander Chris Sale to the mound Friday, has been led by solid pitching and the offense has produced when needed with leadoff batter Adam Eaton setting the table well with 13 hits in eight games. The White Sox hope to take advantage of the offensively challenged Rays, who have dropped four of their last five while managing 10 runs in that span. Tampa Bay was held to one run over the past two games against Cleveland, falling to 3-6 overall. Chicago 1B Jose Abreu is batting .354 with five homers, 18 RBIs, 17 hits and seven walks in 13 career games against the Rays. Giants Cain turned in an encouraging season debut Friday as the veteran held the Dodgers to two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three over six innings. Carlos Gonzalez is 6-for-47 with 17 strikeouts against Cain, who is 17-8 with a 3.23 ERA in 35 career starts against Colorado, including 6-3 with a 4.45 ERA in 15 outings at Coors Field. Indians The Cleveland Indians hope for a second straight dominant pitching performance when they visit the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday afternoon for the rubber match of their three-game series. Danny Salazar will try to match the performance of Carlos Carrasco, who limited the Rays to four hits and one run with eight strikeouts over eight innings in a 4-1 victory on Wednesday. Salazar would like another effort like his first of the season, but more efficient, while Rays starter Chris Archer goes after his first victory in his third opportunity. Tampa Bay needs more offense as Kevin Kiermaier has cooled off after a 3-for-3 performance in the second game of the season, going 0-for-15 since. Salazar was outstanding in his season debut, holding the Chicago White Sox to one run and two hits with seven strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings to earn the victory. The 26-year-old Dominican is coming off his first full season in the majors, when he went 14-10 with a 3.45 ERA and 195 strikeouts in 185 frames. Chicago smacked four home runs in Anaheim, and none came from star third baseman Kris Bryant, who is 2-for-4 with a homer against scheduled starter Rubby De La Rosa. Arizona, which lost two of three to Colorado to start the season, is without one of its top young players for the foreseeable future after center fielder A.J. Pollock had surgery Tuesday on his fractured right elbow. The Cubs have won 11 straight regular-season road games dating to Sept. 15 of last season, one shy of matching the club record of 12 straight in 1945. They will get there tonight behind Lackey. |

Peavy is 14-3 with a 2.38 ERA in 29 career starts against Los Angeles, which became the second team in major league history to record three shutouts to begin the season during a three-game sweep of the San Diego Padres. Los Angeles should receive a much stronger test from the Giants, who opened by taking two of three in Milwaukee and boast one of the deepest lineups in the majors. Marlins After seeing their comeback bid fall short in the season opener, the Miami Marlins will rally around their ace's perfect home mark on Wednesday as they conclude their two-game interleague series against the Detroit Tigers. Right-hander Jose Fernandez has posted a modern major-league record of 17-0 at Marlins Park with a slim 1.40 ERA in 26 starts during his first three campaigns. The battle between each league's batting champion continues as four-time winner Miguel Cabrera will test his mettle versus Fernandez for the first time in his career while Miami's Dee Gordon is 2-for-3 lifetime against Wednesday starter and former Marlin Anibal Sanchez. Gordon ended Justin Verlander's no-hit bid with a one-out double in the sixth inning, and his two-out double in the ninth forged a 7-7 tie in the opener. Sanchez struggled mightily with the long ball last season, permitting 29 homers to nearly match the combined total of his previous three campaigns (33). Sanchez also posted his highest ERA since he was limited to just 10 starts with the Marlins in 2009. Tigers are 0-4 in their last 4 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15.Marlins are 23-3 in Fernandezs last 26 home starts. |

Cubs The Chicago Cubs face enormous expectations as the heavy favorites to win the World Series - even though they haven't done so since 1908 - as they visit the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday in the finale of their season-opening two-game set. Chicago offered a glimpse of what it appears capable of doing on a consistent basis with a shut-down performance by reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Jake Arrieta and plenty of offense in Monday's 9-0 victory. The Cubs Lester was sharp in spring training, yielding four earned runs and striking out 19 while permitting 15 hits and three walks in 17 innings over four starts. I’ll look for that to continue today. Cubs are 9-2 in their last 11 interleague road games vs. a team with a losing record.Angels are 1-8 in their last 9 interleague games vs. a team with a winning record. |

10-28-15 | Mets -123 v. Royals | Top | 1-7 | Loss | -123 | 9 h 58 m | Show |
Game 2 Mets The Kansas City Royals won a marathon 14-inning affair in the World Series opener and look to take a 2-0 lead when they host the New York Mets on Wednesday. Mets RH Jacob deGrom (3-0, 1.80 ERA) vs. Royals RH Johnny Cueto (1-1, 7.88) The 27-year-old deGrom was passed over for the Game 1 start in favor of an extra day of rest as manager Terry Collins noticed he needed more time. The well-rested deGrom has struck out 27 and allowed just 15 hits in 20 postseason innings. Cueto was a major disappointment for the Royals in the regular season and gave up eight runs in two-plus innings while losing his lone American League Championship Series start against Toronto. I like the Mets to tie up the series tonight behind deGrom. |

10-27-15 | New York Mets -106 v. Kansas City Royals | Top | 4-5 | Loss | -106 | 9 h 19 m | Show |
Mets The New York pitching staff used its power stuff to dominate the Chicago Cubs in a four-game sweep of the National League Championship Series, surrendering a total of eight runs in the four games, while Murphy ran his record streak to six straight postseason games with a home run in the clincher. The Mets will have to hope that momentum carries over after having five full days off between rounds. The Royals needed six games to dispatch the Toronto Blue Jays and have a lineup ready for New York’s staff after posting the fewest strikeouts in the majors during the regular season. Harvey will take the ball on nine days’ rest after striking out nine and allowing two runs on four hits and a pair of walks over 7 2/3 innings to win Game 1 of the NLCS. The 26-year-old endured plenty of questions about his workload down the stretch but has so far only been needed for 12 2/3 innings in the postseason. Harvey is making his first career start against Kansas City and is 3-1 with a 0.93 ERA in eight career interleague outings. Volquez picked up his first career postseason win in five starts when he held the Blue Jays scoreless over six innings in Game 1 of the ALCS. The Dominican Republic native was ripped for five runs in as many innings in Game 5 but has seen his velocity tick up in the postseason and will be on regular rest for Game 1. Volquez is 2-5 with a 5.70 ERA in nine career starts against New York and has issued 12 walks in 16 2/3 innings during the postseason. The Mets take game one on the road. |

10-21-15 | New York Mets v. Chicago Cubs -114 | Top | 8-3 | Loss | -114 | 9 h 51 m | Show |
Cubs The Mets start Steven Matz for this one and he wasn't sharp in his final regular season start, giving up 3 runs on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings at Cincinnati and then in the NLDS against the Dodgers he allowed 3 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks in home loss to the Dodgers. He has never faced the Cubs. Hammel had a rough outing in the Division Series against St. Louis as he gave up two runs, three hits and three walks before being pulled after three innings. He gave up just one run in eight innings to the Mets early this season. Cubs are 6-1 in their last 7 games against a left-handed starter and are 25-9 in their last 34 home games. I look for the Cubs to put it all on the line and not give the Mets the sweep. |

10-13-15 | Los Angeles Dodgers v. New York Mets +145 | Top | 3-1 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 60 m | Show |
Mets Clayton Kershaw has a 1-6 lifetime record in the postseason, but the Los Angeles Dodgers really need him to display his regular-season form when they visit the New York Mets for Game 4 of their National League Division Series on Tuesday. Kershaw suffered the loss in Game 1 and Los Angeles is facing elimination after dropping a 13-7 decision on Monday that allowed the Mets to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five matchup. Kershaw hasn't been so formidable in the playoffs, posting a 4.99 ERA in 12 career appearances (nine starts). He has lost five consecutive starts over the last three postseasons and allowed three runs and four hits while striking out 11 over 6 2/3 innings in Game 1. Matz hasn't pitched since Sept. 24 due to back issues, but one of his six major-league outings was a victory over the Dodgers on July 5. Matz allowed two hits over six scoreless innings and struck out eight, prompting Collins to call on him instead of Jonathan Niese. Dodgers are 0-9 in their last 9 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and are 4-16 in their last 20 playoff road games. Dodgers are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings. Mets are 8-1 in their last 9 Divisional Playoff games and are 11-4 in their last 15 games vs. a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15. |

10-01-15 | Minnesota Twins -105 v. Cleveland Indians | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 8 h 58 m | Show |
Twins The Minnesota Twins look to continue their surge toward the second wild-card spot in the American League when they conclude their four-game series versus the host Cleveland Indians on Thursday. Minnesota, which is vying for its first playoff berth since 2010, breezed to a 7-1 triumph in the opener of a doubleheader on Wednesday for its fourth win in a row and seventh in nine outings before falling flat in the nightcap. Duffey improved to 5-0 with a 2.17 ERA in his last eight starts on Monday after allowing two runs in six innings of a 6-2 triumph over Detroit. The 24-year-old began that surge with a strong display versus Cleveland, permitting just one hit over six scoreless frames while navigating around a season-high five walks. Duffey has kept the ball in the park in each of his last five trips to the mound and surrendered just one homer in his last eight. After coming out of the bullpen in his last outing, Bauer gets the nod to start on Thursday. The 24-year-old routinely has struggled versus Minnesota, posting a 1-3 career record with a 6.00 ERA despite emerging victorious in his last meeting. Bauer permitted four runs and seven hits - including three homers - in 6 1/3 innings of a 17-4 rout on Aug. 8. |

Giants The Los Angeles Dodgers take another shot at clinching their third consecutive division title when they visit the National League West-rival San Francisco Giants on Tuesday for the second contest of their four-game set. Los Angeles entered the series with a magic number of two and finished the opener with the same digit as it suffered a 3-2 loss in 12 innings. Andre Ethier forged a tie with an RBI groundout with one out in the ninth, but the Dodgers went on to suffer their fourth straight loss and eighth in 10 games. Kershaw has yielded three runs in each of his last two outings after seven consecutive turns of allowing fewer than two earned. The 27-year-old Dallas native notched his 10th win in 11 decisions Thursday after giving up three runs and six hits in five innings against Arizona. Bumgarner did not factor in the decision at San Diego on Thursday after giving up three runs and three hits in seven innings. The 26-year-old native of North Carolina has lost two of his last four decisions following a five-start winning streak but allowed a total of four runs over 15 frames in the defeats. Off a nice 5-0 week, 9-1 last two weeks and 11-4 on the regular season in the NFL. Please check back later in the week for a full write up on this game and more selections to come. Thanks You. |

09-28-15 | Toronto Blue Jays -128 v. Baltimore Orioles | Top | 4-3 | Win | 100 | 6 h 41 m | Show |
Blue Jays The Toronto Blue Jays are on the verge of clinching the American League East for the first time since 1993 while the Baltimore Orioles are gently sinking to the bottom. The Blue Jays will try to take advantage of the scuffling Orioles when they visit Baltimore for the opener of a four-game series on Monday. Estrada has put himself right behind David Price in a potential postseason rotation by allowing two or fewer earned runs in five of his last six starts. The 32-year-old followed up eight scoreless innings on Sept. 17 by holding the New York Yankees to two runs in 6 2/3 innings without factoring in the decision on Tuesday. Estrada is 2-1 with a 3.32 ERA in five games – three starts – against Baltimore this season. Tillman ended a string of six straight winless starts by holding Washington to three runs and six hits over as many innings on Wednesday. That gave the 27-year-old his first quality start in his last six outings. Tillman was ripped for six runs on eight hits – three home runs – in three innings at Toronto on Sept. 6 and is 0-4 with a 15.50 ERA and nine home runs allowed in 18 total innings against the Blue Jays this season. |

He gave up five runs and failed to get through the fifth inning for the second straight start last time out but escaped with a no-decision versus Washington. Cain has enjoyed little success against the Cardinals, logging a 2-5 record and 6.63 ERA in 10 career starts. 08-18-15 | New York Mets -102 v. Baltimore Orioles | Top | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 54 m | Show |
Mets DeGrom matched his season high with four walks last time out, but he more than compensated by striking out 10 and limiting Colorado to two hits over seven scoreless innings. It was the fifth quality start in as many outings since the All-Star break for deGrom, who is 2-0 and has permitted a total of six runs in that span. Since losing his first three decisions away from home this season, deGrom is 5-1 over his last seven road starts. Gausman struck out eight and yielded three runs over seven innings in his last outing, but it went for naught as the Orioles were no-hit by Seattle's Hisashi Iwakuma. Sale got back on track in his last outing, limiting the Los Angeles Angels to two runs and five hits over 7 1/3 innings to reach double-digit victories for the fourth consecutive season. He had been rocked for seven runs in each of his previous two outings and was tagged for a season-high 12 hits in a loss at Boston on July 30. I’m looking for the Cubs to get to him today.

08-07-15 | Boston Red Sox v. Detroit Tigers -117 | Top | 7-2 | Loss | -117 | 4 h 28 m | Show |
Tigers The Detroit Tigers are getting excited about the near future, and Daniel Norris is a big reason for that optimism. Norris will make his second start since being acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays in the deal for David Price when the Tigers host the Boston Red Sox in the opener of their three-game series on Friday.Norris was the big prize of the Price trade and showed why at Baltimore on Sunday, when he surrendered one run on four hits in 7 1/3 innings to earn the win. Kelly recorded a win over Tampa Bay on Saturday despite allowing five runs on nine hits in five innings. The 27-year-old has not recorded an out in the sixth frame of any of his last four major-league starts and yielded at least four earned runs in four straight outings. Kelly, who is making his first start against Detroit, is 1-3 with a 5.93 ERA in eight turns on the road this season. Take the Tigers at a nice cheap price. |

Astros Kazmir immediately got a taste of the pennant race when he received a no-decision after allowing three hits and three walks while striking out five in 7 2/3 innings of a 3-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. That performance - his first in an Astros uniform at Minute Maid Park - followed up a 4-0 victory at Kansas City on July 24, when he permitted three hits in seven frames. The 31-year-old is 11-5 with a 2.98 ERA in 21 starts versus Texas, including 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA in three turns this season while with Oakland, and has little trouble with Prince Fielder (2-for-16), who is second in the AL in batting with a .329 average.Martinez yielded two runs in 6 1/3 innings of a 6-3 victory over San Francisco on Friday but gave up 27 runs in 34 2/3 frames over his previous six starts. I look for Kazmir to shut down the Rangers bats tonight. |

That ended a string of 11 consecutive quality starts for Martinez, who had allowed a total of two runs in his previous four starts. Mets Zimmermann did not factor in the decision after giving up three runs in seven innings versus the Mets on July 22 and was saddled with a loss six days later after he was reached for three runs over six innings at Miami. Zimmermann won his last three starts heading into the All-Star break but is winless over his last three turns and has not pitched well on the road. Syndergaard was perfect through six innings in his last start and wound up tossing eight scoreless innings of three-hit ball in a 4-0 victory over San Diego. He did not factor in the decision in his previous turn versus Zimmermann and the Nationals despite giving up one run over five innings, a start marred by a season-high five walks. Syndergaard has been superb at home with a 5-1 record and 1.46 ERA in seven starts at Citi Field. I’m on the Mets at home. |

The 26-year-old surrendered a total of two runs and 13 hits in 20 frames over his last three turns. That run began against Toronto on July 10, when Duffy scattered four hits and three walks over six scoreless innings to earn a win. Estrada had a string of six straight starts yielding two earned runs or fewer come to an end when he was reached for five runs on eight hits and three walks over four frames in a loss at Seattle on Friday. Ross has yet to allow a homer in his four starts (26 2/3 frames) and has issued only two walks against 27 strikeouts.Cole has pitched well in two career contests with Washington, posting a 1-0 mark with a 2.08 ERA and 0.85 WHIP but he is overpriced here. Take Washington as a nice underdog. |

07-26-15 | Baltimore Orioles -122 v. Tampa Bay Rays | Top | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 2 h 35 m | Show |
Orioles Chen is winless in his last three outings, but allowed just eight runs (seven earned) over 21 1/3 innings in that span as the Orioles scored just twice in each contest. The 30-year-old from Taiwan has limited opponents to three runs or fewer in 10 straight starts and 16-of-18 overall in 2015.Moore has yet to go past five innings in his first four starts since returning from Tommy John elbow surgery. The 26-year-old gave up four runs over 4 2/3 frames to lose last time out against Philadelphia and has struck out only 11 while walking 10 in 18 2/3 innings overall. Adam Jones (9-for-19) and Matt Wieters (8-for-14) have each homered twice against Moore. This is a cheap price here with Baltimore. |

07-24-15 | Houston Astros -109 v. Kansas City Royals | Top | 4-0 | Win | 100 | 8 h 28 m | Show |
Astros Kazmir was superb in his first start after the All-Star break, holding Minnesota to one run over 8 1/3 innings. He has yielded more than three earned runs just once in 18 starts. His ERA over his last three starts is 0.47. Guthrie is 2-2 with a 4.62 ERA in six starts against the Astros. I see value here in Houston on the road. |

07-22-15 | Boston Red Sox v. Houston Astros -137 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 39 m | Show |
Astros Any and all positive emotions that the Boston Red Sox managed to conjure up within their fan base with a strong run prior to the All-Star break have been wiped away over the last five games. The Red Sox will try to avoid a seventh straight loss when they visit the Houston Astros in the second of a three-game series on Wednesday. McHugh needs one win to tie his career high of 11, set during his breakout year in '14. Since Aug. 1 of last year, his 17 wins are tied for most in the Majors with Gerrit Cole. He?s 3-2 with a 2.62 ERA in his past six starts.Kelly has not had much success in limited work against Houston, yielding seven runs on nine hits and six walks in 5 1/3 frames. Lay the price with Houston. |

07-22-15 | Cleveland Indians +102 v. Milwaukee Brewers | Top | 7-5 | Win | 102 | 3 h 8 m | Show |
Indians Anderson is the first pitcher in the Modern Era to open a career with four straight starts of at least 6 2/3 innings and no more than one run allowed. The rookie held Houston to one run in a win on July 9. Much of the damage against Lohse during the first half came at Miller Park, where the veteran posted an 8.06 ERA and surrendered 13 home runs in 10 starts. I’m backing Cleveland on the road. |

07-18-15 | New York Mets v. St. Louis Cardinals -145 | Top | 2-12 | Win | 100 | 10 h 52 m | Show |
Cardinals The Cards Lackey has a streak of six consecutive quality starts going, and over that span, his ERA is 1.69. He has been stellar at home this season, going 5-2 with a 1.98 ERA in nine starts. The Mets Colon’s first half was wildly inconsistent, with a 5.43 ERA over his last 11 starts. His worst start of the year was on May 20 against the Cardinals, who tagged Colon for nine runs on 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings. Lay the price with St. Louis. |
