NFL Power Rankings Week 9
Looking for 2016 NFL Power Rankings? Week 8 of the NFL season is in the books – it was yet another unforgettable slate of games that we all had the pleasure of witnessing. There were predicable wins as we saw with New England, some incredible comebacks that we saw in Dallas and in Atlanta and the ever-present upsets such as the one in the Saints/Seahawks tilt.

It all adds up to a bit of a shakeup in the weekly Rankings – the top four remain the same but below is somewhat different from what we saw last week.
So where does your favorite stand heading into Week 9? Let’s take a look in Dave B’s Week 9 NFL Power Rankings.
1. New England Patriots
(7-1) – Last Week: 1
The Patriots are on top again his week after a rather easy win against the only team that has beaten them this year – the Bills.
Tom Brady threw for 300+ again and 4 TDs (he now has 12 TDs and ZERO Interceptions since his return) and the offense seemed to do whatever it pleased. Right now it is awfully hard to see anybody knocking New England from #1!
2. Dallas Cowboys
(6-1) – Last Week: 2
The Cowboys seem to be that team of destiny – don’t they? After trailing late against a terrific Eagles team on Sunday night, somehow Dak Prescott willed this team to an OT win.

Word Monday morning is that there are some troublesome injuries on defense for this team but for right now there is no denying who the most impressive team in the NFC is!
3. Denver Broncos
(6-2) – Last Week: 4
The same old formula seems to be holding true for the Broncos – playing strong defense and allowing the offense to do just enough.
That formula held to form Sunday when they beat one of the only two teams that have defeated them so far this year. Denver picked Philip Rivers off three times, Trevor Seimian avoided mistakes and the Broncos posted yet another win.
There is no arguing with success!
4. Kansas City Chiefs
(5-2) – Last Week: 6
The Chiefs went into a tough building Sunday and played very well in every aspect of the game in defeating Indianapolis.
Alex Smith was nicked up and Spencer Ware was forced from the game with a concussion and KC still largely dominated. They play Jacksonville in Week 9 meaning they should stay a top 5 club for another week yet!
5. Minnesota Vikings
(5-2) – Last Week: 3
The Vikings are dropping like a stone – heck #5 may be a bit generous.
Until the O-line gets figured out and the offense can figure out a way to score against some of the worst defenses in the league, Minnesota is a vulnerable team. For now they are a top 5 team – for how long is anybody’s guess!
6. Oakland Raiders
(6-2) – Last Week: 8
How about them Raiders? This team is now 5-0 on the road this year – incredible for such a young team. Derek Carr was remarkable Sunday throwing for 513 yards and 4 TDs (a franchise record) – the team never quit in their OT win at Tampa Bay.

A true test comes in Week 9 when they host Denver but for now I have them knocking on a top 5 spot.
7. Seattle Seahawks
(4-2-1) – Last Week: 5
Russell Wilson clearly isn’t right and because of that the stout defense is being forced into playing WAY too much football.
On paper the Seahawks are still an elite team but until they can start sustaining drives and scoring on some weaker defenses they will continue to slide.
8. Atlanta Falcons
(5-3) – Last Week: 9
You gotta love the way the Falcons gutted out a come-from-behind win against the Packers at home on Sunday. Matt Ryan continues to look like an elite guy again and the defense has actually done its part despite giving up 32 on Sunday.
Atlanta SHOULD be able to keep the roll going with a date against Tampa.
9. Green Bay Packers
(4-3) – Last Week: 7
The Packers nearly stole one Sunday despite key injuries all over the roster. With none of the middling teams around them really doing all that much Sunday, they stay in the top 10.
Aaron Rodgers seems to be coming out of his funk – a good sign for this team going forward.
10. Pittsburgh Steelers
(4-3) – Last Week: 12
The Steelers rise in the Rankings despite not taking to the field on Sunday – almost all of the teams around them faltered! With the news that Big Ben is slated to come back this week (we’ll see!) Pittsburgh automatically jumps back into the top 10.
They were top 5 with Ben – with LeVeon Bell, Antonio Brown and Ben all in the fold, Pittsburgh is a scary club.
11. Philadelphia Eagles
(4-3) – Last Week: 10
The Eagles let one get away on Sunday night against Dallas – they SHOULD have won that game! Still Carson Wentz was efficient and effective and the defense was great for the most part.

If they had made just a couple of more plays Sunday the Eagles could be staring at a top 5 spot.
12. Houston Texans
(5-3) – Last Week: 18
I don’t love the Texans but as a 5-3 team they do deserve to be in the dirty dozen this week.
They currently lead their division but are one of the toughest teams in the league to figure out.
13. Arizona Cardinals (3-4-1) – Last Week: 11
14. Cincinnati Bengals (3-4-1) – Last Week: 13
15. Buffalo Bills (4-4) – Last Week: 14
16. Tennessee Titans (4-4) – Last Week: 21
17. New York Giants (4-3) – Last Week: 17
18. Washington Redskins (4-3-1) – Last Week: 16
19. Detroit Lions (4-4) – Last Week: 15
20. Baltimore Ravens (3-4) – Last Week: 19
21. San Diego Chargers (3-5) – Last Week: 20
22. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-4) – Last Week: 22
23. Miami Dolphins (3-4) – Last Week: 23
24. New York Jets (3-5) – Last Week: 24
25. Carolina Panthers (2-5) – Last Week: 25
26. New Orleans Saints (3-4) – Last Week: 28
27. Chicago Bears (2-6) – Last Week: 30
28. Indianapolis Colts (3-5) – Last Week: 26
29 Los Angeles Rams (3-4) – Last Week: 27
30. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5) – Last Week: 29
31. San Francisco 49ers (1-6) – Last Week: 31
32. Cleveland Browns (0-8) – Last Week: 32
