NFL Power Rankings Week 6
Looking for 2016 NFL Power Rankings? Week 5 of the NFL season is in the books – what a typically crazy week it was! The Vikings are the only undefeated teams left – the Browns are the only winless squad. The Patriots welcomed back Tom Brady and the Falcons, the Steelers, the Cowboys and the Raiders continued to surprise.
NFL Football Handicapping
There has been a big shake-up in the Rankings this week that reflect what an insanely unpredictable league we love.
So where does your favorite stand heading into Week 6? Let’s take a look in Dave B’s Week 6 NFL Power Rankings.
1. Minnesota Vikings (5-0)
– Last Week: 2
Did anyone have the Vikings undefeated after five weeks? Liars! No team has been more impressive so far – despite the loss of Adrian Peterson, Teddy Bridgewater and even Stefon Diggs on Sunday they posted an easy win.
The offense is shockingly solid and is taking care of the ball and the defense has been off-the-charts. They have beaten some terrific teams so far and made DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller look absolutely pedestrian in Week 5 – impressive.
2. New England Patriots (4-1)
– Last Week: 3
The Patriots are more like a 1B. Sure they beat the lowly Browns Sunday but it is the way they did it. Tom Brady went 28-40 for 406 yards and 3 TDs. The offense rolled to 501 yards and limited the Browns to 262.

Rob Gronkowski was dominant again and Martellus Bennett was unstoppable. The Pats were good with Tom on the sidelines – they become terrific with Tom back under center.
3. Denver Broncos (4-1)
– Last Week: 1
The Broncos were due for a letdown and they got it on Sunday. Keep in mind that they were forced to start the “not-quite-ready” Paxton Lynch at QB.
The common belief is that Trevor Siemain will return Thursday which makes this team a whole lot better. The defense is still elite – they carried Brock Osweiler and an underwhelming Peyton Manning last year so I’m not panicking just yet.
4. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1)
– Last Week: 6
The Steelers have outscored their opposition 74-27 the last two weeks (against the Jets and the Chiefs) and Big Ben has thrown for 680 yards and nine TDs in those games.
Their 34-3 beatdown to the Eagles in Week 3 is a thing of the past – Pittsburgh’s offense is doing whatever it wants and the defense has been shockingly stout. Pittsburgh is crazy-good until Roethlisberger has his annual injury issues.
5. Seattle Seahawks (3-1)
– Last Week: 5
No reason to bump the Seahawks down during their bye. A week of rest will do their banged-up position players some good. Russell Wilson has gotten better with every start, Jimmy Graham is relevant again and the defense is its typically elite self.
A Week 6 with Atlanta is suddenly mouth-watering isn’t it?
6. Atlanta Falcons (4-1)
– Last Week: 10
Speaking of the Falcons… A win, on the road against the defending champs in Week 5 has opened everyone’s eyes.
Matt Ryan looks like a totally different QB, the two-headed running game of Tevin Coleman and Devonta Freeman has been terrific and the defense led by Vic Beasley and his three sacks Sunday have been one of the great surprises of the league.

Atlanta is a force once again – playing some terrific all-around ball.
7. Green Bay Packers (3-1)
– Last Week: 7
The Packers really controlled the Giants on Sunday night. We all know about Aaron Rodgers but how about the defense? They held Odell Beckham in check and made Eli Manning look really bad!
A date with the Cowboys in Week 6 is must-see-TV. I can’t wait.
8. Dallas Cowboys (4-1)
– Last Week: 8
The Cowboys are downright scary right now. Not only is Dak Prescott operating like a chiseled veteran but Zeke Elliot continues to shine – he went for 134 yards on just 15 carries against Cincinnati and even Alfred Morris chipped in with 33 yards on six carries.
The defense has been remarkable too – they held AJ Green in check and harassed Andy Dalton all game long. Dallas has all the makings of a serious contender – Green Bay on Sunday will tell us a lot about this group.
9. Philadelphia Eagles (3-1)
– Last Week: 4
The Eagles drop thanks to a loss, after their by against a pretty bad Detroit team. Mind you, if Ryan Matthews hadn’t fumbled late we’d be taking about an undefeated top 3 team in the NFL. Penalties were also a factor in the loss.
Expect Philadelphia to bounce back but the cracks they showed Sunday is reason for at least a little concern.
10. Oakland Raiders (4-1)
– Last Week: 9
David Carr has officially taken the next step toward becoming elite. He guided his team to an impressive road win Sunday. Amari Cooper finally showed up and Michael Crabtree continues to be good.
However if the team keeps giving up chunks of yards (423 to the Chargers on Sunday) they could drop out of my top 10.
11. Buffalo Bills (3-2)
– Last Week: 17
The Bills have strung together three straight wins after starting 0-2 and land in the dirty dozen for the first time this year. LeSean McCoy has been a beast and Tyrod Taylor seems to be shrugging his slow start.

Buffalo is playing well as evidenced by how they manhandled a very good Rams defense on the road Sunday.
12. Arizona Cardinals (2-3)
– Last Week: 18
Giving the Card the benefit of the doubt here – they beat the lowly 49ers without Carson Palmer. Assuming Palmer passes the concussion protocol we can expect the Cardinals to turn the corner.
David Johnson is an absolute stud and Larry Fitzgerald has been off-the charts. With the defense that Arizona has, there is no reason they can’t be top 10 by this time next week.
- 13. Baltimore Ravens (3-2) – Last Week: 12
- 14. Cincinnati Bengals (2-3) – Last Week: 14
- 15. Kansas City Chiefs (2-2) – Last Week: 16
- 16. Houston Texans (3-2) – Last Week: 13
- 17. New York Giants (2-3) – Last Week: 15
- 18. Los Angeles Rams (3-2) – Last Week: 11
- 19. Washington Redskins (3-2) – Last Week: 19
- 20. Detroit Lions (2-3) – Last Week: 25
- 21. Indianapolis Colts (2-3) – Last Week: 23
- 22. New York Jets (1-4) – Last Week: 21
- 23. Carolina Panthers (1-4) – Last Week: 20
- 24. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-3) – Last Week: 22
- 25. Tennessee Titans (2-3) – Last Week: 29
- 26. New Orleans Saints (1-3) – Last Week: 26
- 27. San Diego Chargers (1-4) – Last Week: 30
- 28. Chicago Bears (1-4) – Last Week: 24
- 29. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3) – Last Week: 31
- 30. San Francisco 49ers (1-4) – Last Week: 27
- 31. Miami Dolphins (1-4) – Last Week: 28
- 32. Cleveland Browns (0-5) – Last Week: 32
