2017-18 NBA Power Rankings
Looking for 2017-18 NBA Power Rankings? We may still be about three months away from the season’s tipoff, but plenty has happened since the Finals came to a close that has shaped (and reshaped) what the league will look like entering next year.

With players like Paul George, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard and Gordon Hayward all on new teams, the leauge has had its most exciting offseason in recent memory.
Here are the top 10 teams at this juncture, per Bovada championship odds (as of July 30), followed by a full list of championship probabilities for all 30 teams.
Golden State Warriors -175
There’s no point in thinking that any team not named Golden State Warriors deserve the No. 1 spot on this list. Not only were they historically dominant on both offense and defense last season—and not only are they the defending champions—but they’ve had an ideal offseason re-signing all key free agents.

As long as Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson are on the roster, this is going to be the best team in the NBA. All the rest of the pieces are just icing on the championship cake.
Cleveland Cavaliers +400
This is the most complicated No. 2 team you’re ever going to see. Yes, any team with LeBron James is a near-lock to make the Finals (as evidenced by his current (and unbelievable) seven-year run), but Kyrie Irving has demanded a trade, the team has swapped out GMs and outside of signing a questionable Derrick Rose failed to make a splash in free agency.
Yes, there are redeeming qualities to this squad. There wouldn’t be three straight Finals appearances to their name if there wasn’t.
But if you’re thinking about putting your money down on the Cavs, you’d be smart to wait and see how this Irving situation eventually plays out.
Boston Celtics +900
For the second season in a row, the Boston Celtics made a monumental free-agent signing. Last year it was Al Horford, this year it was Gordon Hayward.
On top of that, the team selected Jayson Tatum with the third overall pick and is in prime position to challenge the Cavs out East.
It’s true that GM Danny Ainge failed to acquire a superstar via trade (see: Paul George), but the East is so weak at the moment it likely won’t matter. This is easily a top-two team in the league’s lesser conference.
Houston Rockets +1600
The Houston Rockets finally did it. They finally found another superstar to pair alongside James Harden.
After years of chasing Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, LeBron James and others, GM Daryl Morrey landed Chris Paul—one of the greatest point guards to ever grace an NBA court. There are certainly questions that need to be answered regarding a Paul-Harden pairing, but when you can add elite talent, you do it.
The Rockets will enter 2017-18 as the consensus second-best team out West—although one team will have an issue with that.
San Antonio Spurs +1800
If you don’t like the San Antonio Spurs, you don’t like good basketball.

Kawhi Leonard has become a clear No. 1 option, and has done it without giving up any of his defensive proficiency. LaMarcus Aldridge is still a more-than-capable No. 2. Gregg Popovich is easily one of the greatest coaches the NBA has ever seen.
The Rockets have the sexier style and arguably the best backcourt in the league, but the Spurs have been, are, and will be for the foreseeable future a top-five team.
Oklahoma City Thunder +2000
The addition of Paul George is huge for this organization. Russell Westbrook is a star, and now he has his running mate.
Finding success this season is crucial with both superstars in line for free agency in 2018.
Minnesota Timberwolves +2000
Assuming the Minnesota Timberwolves launch themselves into a top-five spot out West could prove to be a bit presumptuous. That would be a massive leap over just a single summer.
Then again, they did add Jeff Teague, Jimmy Butler and Jamal Crawford all while losing only Ricky Rubio.
Either way, this is going to be one of the most exciting groups to watch in the NBA.
Philadelphia 76ers +5000
Honestly…we’re not buying this one. We love what Philly has done and think they’re going to be a borderline playoff team. But we need to see them stay healthy and jell as a unit before we name them the No. 3 team in the Eastern Conference.
Washington Wizards +66000
The Washington Wizards had a successful offseason in the sense that they locked up John Wall for the foreseeable future. His potential departure was already weighing heavy on the organization (not to mention the fan base).
If this group plays up to its potential, it’ll be a top-five team in the Eastern Conference.
Milwaukee Bucks/Toronto Raptors +6600
The Toronto Raptors are perpetually a very strong regular-season team that underperforms in the playoffs. Keep that in mind when betting this season.

The Milwaukee Bucks are maybe a step away from joining second-tier status out East, but they’re closer than some thought they’d be a year ago.
The Greek Freak is the perfect player to build around, and that’s what this franchise continues doing.
