Futures Odds to win the 2017 Stanley Cup
Looking for 2017 NHL Futures Odds & Picks? There are about 15 games to go in the NHL Regular Season for just about all teams and not surprisingly there are some legitimate favorites to hoist Lord Staley’s Cup that have emerged. There isn’t anything shocking but teams like the Wild and Jackets have cemented their status as serious contenders.

So who should we throw our money behind? Is one of the betting faves destined to win it all or is there some value down the board? Let’s break it down.
2017 NHL Futures Betting Odds – Sure Bets
Washington Capitals +450
We all know that the Caps are a terrific Regular Season team. The question remains – can they put it all together in the playoffs in an especially tough Eastern Conference?
The addition of Kevin Shattenkirk at the deadline was a serious boon and the play of Brayden Holtby has been terrific.
Because of him the Caps are the best defensive team in the game (just 154 goals against so far) – a crucial part of a successful playoff team.

Everything looks right for this team to finally break through but I have learned the hard way – they are awfully tough to trust when it all matters.
The problem is that the East is awfully tough this year and I think there are better playoff ready teams out there.
Chicago Blackhawks+500
Here we go again – the Hawks are a top contender and rightfully so! This year they will be out to avenge a first round exit in last year’s playoffs.
A familiar face was added to the blueline at the deadline – Johnny Oduya makes this team better all by himself! Experience, an enviable top two lines and a balanced attack have me thinking Chicago will win the West this year.
Their recent 8-2-0 stretch and their 4 goal per game average (about 2.3 goals against) since the All-Star Break makes me even more of a firm believer.
Minnesota Wild +600
The Wild have been at or near the top of the standings all season long – only a recent 4-6-0 string has them down to fifth in the overall standings.
This team has had some playoff success in recent years – they have reached the second round in two of the last three years and look poised to at least match that this year.
Devan Dubnyk has taken his game to a different level between the pipes, Ryan Suter has been terrific and Eric Staal may be one of the best under-the-radar acquisitions of 2016-2017.
I expect this deep and well-balanced to be in the mix in the playoffs for sure – just don’t know about them coming out of the West or even winning the Cup.
Pittsburgh Penguins +1000
The defending Champs are definitely in the running again this year. Sure they have had an almost unfair run of injuries but this team is still the top scoring team in the game.
They have lost only four times in Regulation on home ice all year, have terrific Special Teams and they have the most special player on the planet suiting up for them.
This team is getting healthier and if Kris Letang can return he will be rested as the straw that stirs the Penguins drink.
Right now Pittsburgh is my pick to win it all again – great value at +1000.
San Jose Sharks +1200
They say that you have to lose in order to win and the Sharks finally got over the hump last year only to lose in the Final. This year they look poised for another long playoff run.
[dfads params=’groups=226&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
Brent Burns has been arguably the best player in the league this year, Martin Jones has been a revelation between the pipes and the quiet addition of Jannik Hansen at the deadline could push them over the top!
I think they will have their issues with the Hawks or the Wild but there is no doubt that the Sharks are an intriguing +1200.
Montreal Canadiens +1200
My thought is that the East is up for grabs and with the best goaltender in the world manning the crease for Montreal, they have to be in the conversation.
Jordie Benn and Brandon Davidson as well as forwards Steve Ott, Dwight King and Andreas Martinsen were added at the deadline to a team that looks among the deepest in the East right now.
Andrew Shaw makes them gritty, Shea Webber makes them a nightmare in their own end and Price makes them awfully tough to score on.
Simply put Montreal is a serious contender – nobody would be shocked to see Mr. Price get Hot and for the Habs to be hoisting Lord Stanley’s Cup early in the summer.
2017 NHL Futures Betting Odds – Middle of the road
Columbus Blue Jackets +1400
The Jackets have been impressive indeed – my guess is that the lack of playoff experience is a hindrance in 2017.
New York Rangers +1400
The Rangers will have a rested Henrik Lundqvist back in the fold. This team hasn’t been playing well lately however – something looks amiss on Broadway!
Edmonton Oilers +2000
The young and up and coming Oilers have all the pieces in place but are still learning how to win. They will make the playoffs this year and gain some valuable experience but 2017 is not their year to win it all.
Anaheim Ducks +2200
Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf seem to be shadows of their former selves. The team doesn’t score all that much and they let in too many goals – not a great recipe for playoff success.
Boston Bruins +2500
Boston is hanging around but nobody including myself thinks they are Stanley Cup winning caliber at this point.
Nashville Predators +2800
Under .500 on the road and with a banged up PK Subban and Roam Josi? No thanks.
Los Angeles Kings +2800
Have become a team that will barely make the playoffs and are destined for a first round exit.
Tampa Bay Lightning +3300
Still missing their KEY PIECE Steven Stamkos, the Lightning just don’t look formidable – just qualifying for the playoffs may be a stretch unfortunately.
If Stamkos returns to full form TB is a different story but that is a BIG IF.
St. Louis Blues +3300
Should make the playoffs but just barely. The trading away of Kevin Shattenkirk effectively signaled to the rest of the league that this won’t be the Blues season.
Ottawa Senators +3300
No love for the Ottawa Senators! Craig Anderson has definitely given this team a boost and so has the improved play of Erik Karlsson. Ottawa is a sneaky threat in the East right now – they feel they can compete with anyone!
Ottawa is my dart-throw pick this year – worth a sprinkle to me!
Toronto Maple Leafs +3300
The rebuild has gone better than expected but to expect the young core on this team to win it all is too much to ask. The Leafs WILL BE a contender in a couple years time.
Calgary Flames +3300
The Flames? Ya – the Flames!
[dfads params=’groups=235&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
They have been one of the best teams in the league during the second half of the season – their goaltending has been off-the-charts lately and their offense has done its part.
Calgary has quietly built themselves a nice all around team. Do I think they are capable of winning it all? No. Do I think they are capable of making some noise in the playoffs – absolutely.
