2016/2017 CBB Championship Lines
Looking for 2017 College Basketball Futures Odds and some great betting lines to get down on? We’ve got your back. At this point in the season most teams have played at least 10 or more games. We have seen some surprises though I can’t say it is a shock that the defending champs, Villanova are at the top of the rankings right now. Given that we now have some actual results to consider it is a perfect time to reevaluate the Futures odds before conference play starts in earnest in the New Year.

Here are the CBB futures from our last post on this subject. I can’t go through every team on the list but let’s take a look at some top plays and some teams who have a story to tell, both good and bad.
College Basketball Futures Odds: Duke Blue Devils +450
Duke began the season as the favourite to win it all thanks to a major influx of freshman talent. They have just one loss on the season (to Kansas) but have been relying primarily on mainstays like Grayson Allen and Luke Kennard.
Their frosh class has been mostly on the shelf but the team is getting healthier with wins Jayson Tatum showing a lot in just three games of action.
Marques Bolden gives them depth and length up front. No reason to pull the favourite tag away from these guys but you have to wonder if they will get enough time together to click when it matters.
College Basketball Futures Odds: Kentucky Wildcats +650
The sky was falling a little bit after the Wildcats lost at home to UCLA (and got beat pretty badly). They are once again relying on a wicked freshman class and the duo of Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fix might already be the best backcourt tandem in college hoops.

Last Saturday they outlasted North Carolina in what was a spectacularly entertaining game, ditto for their loss on Wednesday against Louisville. They are not getting as much from their bigs as they have in the past but they still look very good.
College Basketball Futures Odds: North Carolina Tar Heels +800
UNC is a sleeper for a lot of folks, at least as much as a powerhouse program like them can be. They have a nice mix this season and unlike the teams above are not going to be reliant on freshmen.
A lot of their key players were a part of last year’s team that lost to the title to Villanova. Shooter Justin Jackson look much improved and in guard Joel Berry II they have the kind of player you can see dominating the game when it matters the most.
College Basketball Futures Odds: Villanova Wildcats +1400
I think people are still not sure what to make of Villanova. They won the title last year and have yet to lose but they are not blessed with jaw dropping talent and a couple of key cogs graduated and moved on.
Josh Hart leads the way and has to be considered a candidate for player of the year. He helps the team in so many ways, leading in points, assists and rebounds. The Big East is strong this season so they are unlikely to finish the season undefeated but a top seed looks likely.
College Basketball Futures Odds: Baylor Bears +2500
On paper the Bears have the best resume of the bunch. They are still undefeated and have beaten the likes of Oregon, Louisville, Michigan State and Xavier. Had they started a little higher in the rankings would probably be #1 right now.
It might seem nuts but some are even predicting they can knock Kansas off their perch in the B12. I am no willing to go that far but you have to look at this group if you are seeking a high value futures play.
College Basketball Futures Odds: Gonzaga Bulldogs +2500
Citing their longevity, I think the Zags have to be considered the best Mid Major in America and once again they have a strong team. This year’s group is built a little bit differently but they have their usual mix of size and skill and are able to play a lot of different styles.
I love Nigel Williams-Goss as their lead guard. The Washington transfer has lots of talent and passion. He sat out a year to play at Gonzaga, so you know he is motivated. Just let that sink in a little.

These are definitely not the only teams capable of winning the title. UCLA might be the best bet featuring their awesome frosh duo of Lonzo Ball and TJ Leaf and Kansas probably has the best set of starting guards in the nation.
Both of those teams are as good a bet as any of these at this, or any point of time.
In terms of the team on this short list I think you have to like Villanova at +1400. Repeating as champs is very challenging but they have a core in place that has been there and done that and look primed to finish with a top seed, easing their path somewhat. Plus the value for tying up your money looks pretty darn good to me. Happy Holidays!
