Let’s take a look in Ray Monohan’s Week 7 NFL Power Rankings.
1. Kansas City Chiefs (5-1)
– Last Week: 1
The Chiefs experienced a hiccup this past week, and with it brought all the concerns that it rightfully should. About the team’s inability to win the big game, Andy Reid’s clock management issues, and the lack of big-play ability within the offense.
But every team around the Chiefs has more flaws than Kansas City does. And Kansas City has a chance to get this loss out of everyone’s mind in a hurry on a short week in which they’ll travel to Oakland to take on the struggling Raiders.
2. New England Patriots (4-2)
– Last Week: 3
The Patriots have flaws, there’s no question about that. They gave up a 300-yard passing game to their opposing quarterback for the sixth consecutive game to start the season, which is an NFL record.

But at the same time, they continue to find ways to win. And you just know they’re on the rise and Bill Belichick works the squad and gets them better as the playoffs approach.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (4-1)
– Last Week: 6
The Eagles had a big time prove-it opportunity on Thursday Night Football at the Panthers and they did not disappoint. Carson Wentz has taken the step forward many of the great quarterbacks do in their second year, and the defense has more talent than most people realize.
4. Seattle Seahawks (3-2)
– Last Week: 8
The Seahawks were benefactors of sitting idle while many of the top teams fell by the wayside as we saw with some of the other elite teams a week ago. The break gave the team an extra week to sort out their offensive line issues.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2)
– Last Week: 10
The Steelers continue to play up or down to the level of their competition, which will be a problem with ever earning the top seed in the regular season, but makes them a threat to any of the top teams come playoff time.

Ben Roethlisberger obviously isn’t really done with the game, and the team’s defense has taken a major step forward this season as its young talents continue to develop and come together.
6. Carolina Panthers (4-2)
– Last Week: 5
The Panthers drop a spot coming off a loss, but there’s clearly something to this team this year after a disappointing fall back a year ago following their Super Bowl loss. Cam Newton’s bought into the new offense, and the defense is back to playing to its full potential.
7. Denver Broncos (3-2)
– Last Week: 4
The Broncos seemed to have everything figured out going into last week’s matchup with the lowly Giants, but it’s just been that kind of year in the NFL. Call last weekend’s game a hiccup and expect this team to get back into the win column on Sunday – they have all the pieces in place to be elite.
8. Atlanta Falcons (3-2)
– Last Week: 7
The Falcons have a lot of talent, but they could easily be 1-4 right now. Getting those lucky bounces is part of being an elite team, but this team really needs to figure things out, and it’s surprising they weren’t able to get everyone on the same page on their bye.
9. Minnesota Vikings (4-2)
– Last Week: 16
The Vikings take a major step forward, largely because of the inevitable plummet coming from the Packers, who lost their star quarterback. Minnesota and Detroit have a clear path to the top of their division now, as that’s become just a two-horse race.
10. Detroit Lions (3-3)
– Last Week: 9
The Lions are the other major benefactor from the injury to Aaron Rodgers. And Detroit actually has a pair of meetings with the Packers still on its schedule. They’ll need to break this habit of falling behind early if they’re ever going to join the elite ranks.
