Let’s take a look in Ray Monohan’s Week 3 NFL Power Rankings.
1. New England Patriots (1-1)
– Last Week: 3
There was a lot of confidence in the Patriots entering the season, and rightly so, but their season opening loss to the Kansas City Chiefs saw a lot of people jumping off their bandwagon.
A ship-righting victory over the New Orleans Saints helped fill that bandwagon back up, but there remains a lot to be concerned about in New England. The injuries are piling up, and Tom Brady isn’t getting any younger. But as long as Bill Belcihick as manning the controls, there’s always hope that the team can overcome whatever’s thrown at it.
2. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0)
– Last Week: 2
The Steelers’ offense gets all the attention, but that’s not how they’ve been winning thus far. The team’s defense is young and on the rise, and starting to help Pittsburgh come out on top in games in which the offense doesn’t light up the scoreboard.

Le’Veon Bell really needs to get going, and it’s likely just a matter of time before he does. Once that happens, all bets are off with this team that’s as good as any when it’s on a roll.
3. Oakland Raiders (2-0)
– Last Week: 4
It’s getting tougher and tougher to find fault with the Raiders’ defense if their offense is going to keep scoring at will. Marshawn Lynch is looking like the Marshawn Lynch of old, which is a scary prospect for opposing defenses given how good the Raiders are at slinging the pigskin.
4. Atlanta Falcons (2-0)
– Last Week: 6
Some sort of regressions was expected from the Falcons after everything went right for them a year ago (until the second half of the Super Bowl) but the team’s picked up right where it left off. Matt Ryan just had a switch flip in his head entering last season, and there’s no stopping this offense now.
5. Kansas City Chiefs (2-0)
– Last Week: 7
Many question the sanity of the Chiefs’ front office when the team decided to drop Jeremy Maclin prior to the preseason, but there are certainly enough weapons on this Chiefs offense as currently constructed.

Kareem Hunt is the real deal, and Travis Kelce is basically a younger version of Rob Gronkowski, and the Chiefs are ready to unleash both on the rest of the NFL.
6. Denver Broncos (2-0)
– Last Week: 9
The Broncos built a roster that has every position filled except for quarterback, and that may not be the case any longer. It was very telling when the team gave Trevor Siemian the captain’s “C” on his jersey entering this season, and the Northwestern product has not disappointed, with an NFL-leading six touchdown passes through two weeks.
7. Detroit Lions (2-0)
– Last Week: 10
Detroit is looking good on both sides of the ball. The massive contract the front office gave Matthew Stafford isn’t looking so bad right now as the team continues to cruise. How they perform this Sunday coming off a short week and a big road win will be telling.
8. Dallas Cowboys (1-1)
– Last Week: 5
The strength of this Cowboys team has been its offensive line, and this past week, the Broncos humanized that group with a dominant performance. That unit should be motivated to bounce back in Week 3, and when they play well, it hides a lot of other weaknesses.
9. Green Bay Packers (1-1)
– Last Week: 1
The Packers can look unbeatable at times, but when they lose, man, it can look really ugly. Green Bay didn’t belong in the same building as Atlanta this past week. There are a lot of holes on this roster, and injuries are starting to amplify those weaknesses.
As long as Aaron Rodgers is around they’ll be able to hang in games and remain in contention, but it’s tough to understand his motivation for wanting to remain with a Packers franchise that won’t surround him with talent.
10. Seattle Seahawks (1-1)
– Last Week: 2
The Seahawks drop two spots despite coming off a win. Their offensive line remains a big issue, and there’s no excuse for struggling against the lowly 49ers at home. The offense needs to get things figured out in a hurry, because the defense is certainly doing its part.
