NFL Handicapping Insight
With the NFL draft and free agency mostly behind us, NFL teams’ rosters will look largely the way they do now when the season starts. That leaves alert bettors a great opportunity to look through the ranks in search of value, and the best bang for their buck.
Here are three favorites, three longshots, and three from the middle of the pack worthy of a closer look when betting on Super Bowl LII.
New England Patriots +340
The Patriots are the clear favorites to repeat as champions after a dominant showing in 2016-17.

Tom Brady surely played off the motivation he got from a questionable suspension to start the year, and while he won’t have that boost again, he will start the campaign with a healthy Rob Gronkowski, and the best wideout he’s had in years in Brandin Cooks.
The Patriots will have a target on their backs all year long, but that’s just business as usual for Bill Belichick’s crew.
Dallas Cowboys +1000
The Cowboys stunned a lot of people last year with a strong showing from a pair of rookies at key positions, but Jason Garrett’s offense behind the team’s hulking offensive line has proven to be incredibly effective in today’s NFL, and has done a great job of hiding the team’s deficiencies on defense.
The NFC is wide open, but the Cowboys are at the head of the pack.
Seattle Seahawks +1100
The Seahawks have gone through some highly publicized internal issues during the offseason, but there’s no denying the breadth of talent on their roster.

The team is loaded on both sides of the ball and will be a force in the NFC, particularly if they can gain home field advantage in the playoffs.
The play: Cowboys +1000
Pittsburgh Steelers +1400
The Steelers invested heavily in their existing core during the offseason, locking up Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown to rich deals to continue to build off the trio of those two studs and Ben Roethlisberger.
They’ll add Martavis Bryant back into the fold on a team that should again be explosive offensively. The defense is coming along as it matures, making the Steelers a legit title contender.
New York Giants +2200
The Giants spent big money last offseason to add to their defense, and now that group will be supplemented by what should be a high-powered offense.
The front office used a slew of resources to supplement the offense at the skill positions and extend Eli Manning’s useful years. Now it’s time to translate all those added weapons into wins on the field.
Carolina Panthers +3000
The Panthers were a major bust last season after making it all the way to the Super Bowl the year before. Their core remains largely intact, so a bounce back should be expected.
The Falcons will be the team in the spotlight in the NFC South this season, so the Panthers should have a lot less media attention to deal with as they look to climb out of their rut.
The play: Panthers +3000
Cincinnati Bengals +5500
The Bengals were another one of the big disappointments last season after many had them projected to content for a title. They should be able to bounce back after some nice offseason additions.
Getting their running game going will be key, but they have the assets to do so.
Washington Redskins +6000
The Redskins’ passing offense has been the catalyst for the team’s success in recent years, and that group underwent a serious facelift in the offseason, and that should be for the better.
Assuming all the new faces can get assimilated quickly, the Redskins should go right back to moving the ball with efficiency.
Buffalo Bills +9000
The Bills have the players in place to be an elite offensive team, but injuries derailed their efforts for the most part last season.

This year they’ll start the season with all those key pieces in place, and a new head coach with a more offensive focus.
The play: Bengals +5500
