Lucky for you, we’ve got the guys to keep tabs on here in one convenient location.
Along with the non-throwers, we have a couple underrated QBs to consider who not only deserve a look in the MVP race, but will have excellent payouts should they get the job done.
Here’s a look at the five sleepers to keep an eye on when it comes to the 2018 NFL MVP Race.
2018 NFL MVP Lines: Matt Ryan (+1600)
If we’re talking about sleepers outside the top five, you have to consider Matt Ryan. The Atlanta Falcons quarterback rode a career-high 4,944-yard season (with a career-high 38 touchdowns and career-bests seven interceptions/117.1 QB RAT) to his first-ever MVP season.

He currently ranks seventh in MVP odds for 2018, but it’s hard to call him a sleeper if you think he’ll put up anything close to the same numbers he did a year ago.
Ignore him at your own risk.
2018 NFL MVP Lines: Ezekiel Elliott (+2000)
If there’s any second-year player to look at for MVP consideration…it’s Dak Prescott at +1200.
But if you’re looking for a second-year sleeper, look no further than his teammate in the backfield, Ezekiel Elliott.
Elliott is a sleeper for a few reasons. For starters: Prescott. When you have two MVP candidates on the same team, the edge is almost always going to go to the quarterback.
Another reason, though, is history. The last time a running back won MVP was 2012 when Adrian Peterson took home the honor, and before that it was 2006 with LaDainian Tomlinson.
Elliott, however, deserves recognition because he’s A) a transcendent talent at the fresh age of 21 years old, and B) his offensive line is consistently going to get the job done.

The Cowboys have two MVP candidates and that’s not a bad thing. The problem for Elliott is that he may be in his QB’s shadow when voting comes around at the end of the year.
2018 NFL MVP Lines: David Johnson (+3300)
Another running back? You betcha.
Don’t get us wrong. There are guys ahead of David Johnson who have better odds. Cam Newton (+2500), Andrew Luck (+2500) and Drew Brees (+2500) are all more likely to take home the NFL’s most prestigious individual award, despite not being in the Top 5. But that’s what makes this guy a sleeper. Considering the QB talent above all of these names, Johnson is more likely to have a standout season.
Last year, Johnson more than doubled his rushing yards from his 2015 rookie season (1,239) and also more than doubled his receiving yards (12)) and receptions (80) as well.
Don’t be shocked if Johnson clears his 20 total touchdowns from last season with a few weeks left in the year.
2018 NFL MVP Lines: Marcus Mariota (+3300)
Marcus Mariota has the same odds of winning the MVP this season as David Johnson. But if we’re being honest…he’s multiple steps behind considering the number of players at his position who have better odds at this point in the year.
All that said, Mariota is ready for a breakout. And maybe more importantly in this league, so is his team.
As ESPN made clear in June, “The offensive line may not be quite on that level with [what] the Dallas Cowboys were last year, but it’s right in the ballpark …”
They continued, explaining how the squad tripled its win total last season from two years ago, but that line (and Mariota’s health) are the biggest factors to consider. In college, Mariota was a player known for his efficiency and ball protection, and if he can find that touch again, he could ride a strong individual campaign with an even better team campaign to a surprising MVP-caliber season.
2018 NFL MVP Lines: Julio Jones (+5500)
Julio Jones comes into the season tied with Antonio Brown for MVP odds. But we’re picking Jones as the sleeper here for two reasons.
For starters, Brown has gained more notoriety as of late. He’s the sexier pick, and he’s the player more likely to earn a viral video or quote card on your favorite sports site’s social media channels.
But despite the step behind in overall internet fame, Jones now has the edge in terms of recently watching his teammate win MVP just a season ago.
If Jones, who had a decent drop-off last season, can bounce back, there won’t be many wide receivers who finish as high as he does in the MVP voting by year’s end.
2018 NFL MVP Lines: Kirk Cousins (+5000)
Choosing Adrian Peterson as our final sleeper might be the sexiest pick. Looking at Eli Manning in a bounce-back year (while optimistic) might be more realistic considering his off-year-on-year tendencies.

But at this point, we’re looking at Kirk Cousins as our final sleeper. From potential surprise weapons like Terrell Pryor to internal upgrades like Josh Doctson, there are pieces in place to make Cousins look exceedingly great.
At +5000, it’s a risk to throw your money his way—especially up against someone like Le’Veon Bell, who has the same odds. But that’s what makes him a sleeper.
Don’t sleep on Cousins.
