Here’s a look at who is favored to win the 2016-17 NFL MVP.
2017 NFL MVP Predictions: Aaron Rodgers (+425)
As long as Aaron Rodgers is a quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, he’s going to be an MVP candidate.
Let’s take that one step further: As long as he’s the quarterback for the Packers, he’s going to be a favorite for the NFL MVP.
Rodgers won his second MVP award in the 2014-15 season, and he’s the odds-on favorite to take home the hardware again in 2016-17.
That may come as a surprise to those who expect Cam Newton to be the favorite, but there’s one thing to take into consideration.

No rushing quarterback has backed up a double-digit rushing touchdown season with another double-digit rushing touchdown season since 1970.
Rodgers is the more consistent option, and he doesn’t have history going against him entering the 2016-17 NFL season when it comes to expected production.
2017 NFL MVP Predictions: Ben Roethlisberger (+750)
Ben Roethlisberger has a few things going against him this upcoming season. For starters, a history of common sense and health. He only played 12 games last season.
He’s also 34 years old — not quite on the wrong side of 35, but he’s close enough for a quarterback that is entering his 14th season.
The good news is that he has plenty of weapons around him to make you believe he has a shot at the NFL’s most prestigious individual award.
Antonio Brown, everybody’s No. 1 overall prospect in terms of fantasy football production, is ready to be the NFL’s No. 1 wide receiver.

If his talent weren’t enough, a bet with New York Jets’ Brandon Marshall for pink slips should give you even more faith that the wide out is motivated to have a great year.
Then there’s Le’Veon Bell, whose suspension was reduced a game to three.
Roethlisberger isn’t the safest bet in terms of NFL MVP candidates, but he might have the highest ceiling considering his main target. Keep an eye on this veteran as the 2016 year progresses.
2017 NFL MVP Predictions: Cam Newton (+800)
Cam Newton was last year’s superstar, but rushing quarters don’t do well in their seasons coming off of double-digit rushing-touchdown seasons. Yes, he led the NFL in fnatasy points last season, and in today’s day and age, that’s a sexy stat.
But here’s the deal: Carolina has plenty of tough defensive battles this season and there’s little reason to believe Newton is going to live up to his own expectations this year.
The truth is that he’s not going to be terrible — in fact, he’s probably going to be very good…again. But he’s not likely to live up to the expectations that he’s set for himself based on the 2015-16 season.
Expect Newton to play well this year — don’t expect him to be an MVP favorite when this season comes to an end.
2017 NFL MVP Predictions: Russell Wilson (+800)
Russell Wilson could have been the NFL’s Most Valuable Player throughout the second half of the 2015-16 campaign. He tallied 25 touchdowns and just two turnovers in the season’s final seven games.
Now, at 27 years old, this guy seems to have shaken off any sort of rust he had as a youngster.
Top that off with the fact that Jimmy Graham should be healthy (all of Seattle collectively knocks on wood) and this quarterback has every chance at becoming an MVP by the time 2017 hits.
With Marshawn Lynch gone, RW will completely take over the offense.

There were too many opportunities for him to take over in 2015 where he ultimately deferred to Lynch, but with him gone and Graham back on board, he has plenty of opportunities to take over as the go-to playmaker.
Last season, he upped his numbers to 4,024 passing yards and 35 TDs (8.3 yards per attempt, 68.1 percent completion).
As the fourth favorite on the board, Wilson offers the best value. He has plenty of room to improve, but he’s already great, as a Super Bowl champion.
Don’t count out Wilson just because he’s at the bottom of our list of favorites.
