The Devils come in after another disappointing season that saw them miss out on postseason play.
The puck drops at 7:00 PM EST.
Winnipeg
The Jets opened their 2015-2016 campaign with a bang Thursday night in Boston. After allowing the Bruins to grab an early 1-0 lead, Winnipeg took off scoring 6 of the next 7 goals en route to a 6-2 in.
The win put an end to their winless drought in Boston. Previous to Thursday, the Jets were 0-10-3 in Boston.

Both Drew Stafford and Alexander Burmistrov contributed in big ways for the Jets. The duo each had a goal and an assist to their credit.
Nicolas Petan had an NHL debut to remember as he tallied a goal in the 3rd period to give Winnipeg a 5-2 lead. Petan was a 2nd round draft pick back in 2013 for the Jets.
Winnipeg has been successful in New Jersey going 2-0-2 in their last 4 meetings there.
New Jersey
The New Jersey Devils franchise has been a disappointing one to say the least over the recent seasons. New Jersey has failed to make the postseason for 3 straight seasons now and will look to take a step in the right direction with a win in their home opener on Friday.
New Jersey last qualified for postseason play back in 2012, when they lost to Los Angeles in the Stanley Cup Finals.

The franchise has now turned to a new GM and new Head Coach as Ray Shero has taken over the GM duties and John Hynes will be calling the shots. Shero didn’t make any sort of big splash this past off season in his first free agent tenure for the Devils, but he did manage to add some low key big parts to help the cause out.
The biggest acquisition that did get some attention was Kyle Palmeri. He racked up 14 goals last year with the Ducks and figures to be an even bigger scoring threat for New Jersey this season.
New Jersey finished the 2014-2015 season 32-36-14, which ranked 7th in the Metropolitan.
