The Winnipeg Jets travel to North Carolina to take on the Hurricanes in a Tuesday night matchup.

The Hurricanes beat the Jets 5-3 when the two teams met in Winnipeg on Feb. 3.
Winnipeg
The Winnipeg Jets find themselves in the cellar of the Central Division, arguably the toughest division in the NHL.
For as strong as they finished last season en route to a playoff spot, they’ve been extremely disappointing this year with just 53 points and eight points out of a playoff spot with fewer than 30 games to play.
[dfads params=’groups=226&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
The Jets have no offense sans All-Star forward Blake Wheeler, and it’s hurt the team all season. Winnipeg is 18th in goals scored and 19th in shooting percentage and the defense has been equally disappointing.
Plagued by goaltending problems, Winnipeg ranks 25th in goals allowed, 28th on the penalty kill and 29th in penalty minutes.
Though the Jets have played pretty well against Eastern Conference foes this year, they’ve lost their last four games against the East.
Winnipeg is 11-8-2 versus the East this year.
Carolina
The Hurricanes have played solid hockey this season despite a lackluster roster and find themselves just four points out of a playoff spot. Carolina is 5-3-2 in its last 10 games and is fresh off an impressive 6-3 home win against the New York Islanders.
Now the Hurricanes will look to capitalize off that momentum against one of the Western Conference’s worst teams.
Carolina has been led by its defense for most of the season. Though the Hurricanes are 15th in goals allowed at 2.61 per game, they rank 2nd in shots on goal allowed and lead the league with only 6.3 penalty minutes per game.
Carolina has also fared well against the West lately. Over its last four games versus Western Conference opponents, Carolina is 3-1 and has scored a combined 16 goals in those games.
The Hurricanes also scored five goals in those of those games, including the five they scored against Winnipeg on Feb. 3.
Carolina has outscored its last four Western Conference opponents 16-8.

Free NHL Hockey Prediction
The Hurricanes offense exploded for six goals against the Islanders and they’ll look for the same result against a Winnipeg team that allows 2.87 goals per game.
Carolina is right in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race and needs to beat its easier opponents. The Hurricanes will take care of business in this one.
