The Jets have been barely treading water in their division, ranking 5th in the Central and having lost 4 of 6 games, all in regulation, in February. They will face a tough task travelling to Pittsburgh to face the powerhouse Penguins.
The Penguins currently sit in second in the Metro Division, which is the best of the four divisions by a mile. The Pens will look to add, likely on the backend, nearing the trade deadline to make another Cup run this Spring.
Winnipeg Jets
The overall numbers on offense for the Jets have been good, currently sitting 9th overall in goals per game at 2.9 on the year. Their own end, on the other hand, has been an unmitigated disaster, especially in the crease.

Patrik Laine leads the offensive charge in terms of goals, with 26 in what is turning into an excellent rookie season. Laine is coming off of a hat trick in his last game against Dallas, helping the Jets to their first win in five games.
Mark Scheifele is the overall top Jets’ point-getter, with 56 in as many games. He currently ranks 7th overall in the NHL in points on the year, in a tie with Tyler Seguin and his opposition in this game, Evgeni Malkin.
Dustin Byfuglien and Jacob Trouba have both been solid on the blueline this season, each averaging over a point in every two games while maintaining respectable plus-minus ratings, specifically Trouba.
The defensive corps thins out considerably after whose two with Tyler Myers sidelined long-term with an injury.
The real problem in Winnipeg has been in net, where Connor Hellebuyck has okay season numbers with a .910 SV% and a 2.77 GAA, but has seemingly allowed untimely goals at crucial times.
Ondrej Pavelec has carried the majority of the load lately, but has been terrible with a 3.55 GAA and a .888 SV%.
Pittsburgh Penguins
Pittsburgh has carried off where they left last season, looking like a favorite Cup contender with their 77 points on the year.
Their offense currently ranks as the best in the league, scoring at a clip of 3.5 goals per game.
Their powerplay also ranks high at a 21.9% efficiency rate, which is good for the 5th best mark.
Simply put, Sidney Crosby has been incredible this season. In his 49 games played after missing the beginning on the year, he produced 30 goals and 61 points, good for second overall behind just Connor McDavid. His 30 goals lead the NHL, as does his point-per-game rate of 1.24 (of any player over 10 games).
Not to be outdone, counterpart Evgeni Malkin has a ppg mark of 1.17 in his 48 games, good for 56 points on the year. Completing the trifecta, Phil Kessel has also been racking up the stats with 54 points in 55 games played.

The back-end has certainly felt the loss of Kris Letang, and rank 16th overall in goals against at 2.8 per game.
Letang has 29 points in 37 games before going down to injury, but Justin Schultz has filled in nicely in the powerplay QB role in his absence, registering 39 points of his own on the year.
It will be interesting to see if Marc-Andre Fleury is dealt come the trade deadline, as the team will only be able to protect one goalie and Matt Murray has supplanted him in the starting role.
Murray owns a 2.27 GAA and an excellent .926 SV% on the season.
NHL Betting Trends:

- Winnipeg is 12-15-3 on the road

Free Winnipeg Jets vs. Pittsburgh Penguins NHL Hockey Prediction:
Pittsburgh has been a juggernaut at home this year, only having lost three games in regulation all season. The Jets, meanwhile have been below .500 on the season, though have won their past three road games.
While I think Murray is an outstanding goaltender, I think the Jets have enough firepower to pot a couple on him.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Over 5.5
It should be a light show at the other end of the rink with Pavelec in net facing the league best offense.
