A Pacific division battle ensues in scenic Vancouver on Thursday night, as the once talk-of-the-town Golden Knights travel to British Columbia to battle the rebuilding Canucks. The Knights are starting to make noise again, after four consecutive wins has them looking pretty and resembling the team that made the Stanley Cup final last season.
Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights are on fire right now. Winners of four in a row and five of their past six, the guys from Sin City have rediscovered their love of scoring (no pun intended). Plainly, 14 goals in their past two games is crazy good. Diminutive Jonathan Marchessault is leading the way with 10 goals and 20 points on the campaign.

Since their inception just last year, the Knights have done well at securing some secondary production. Also, goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, so excellent a year ago but looking pedestrian until recently, had two consecutive shutouts earlier in the week. Maybe ‘Flower’ is catching his earlier magic again. Also keep an eye on center Cody Eakin, a former tough guy who has adapted his game and now has 10 goals to tie Marchessault for the club lead.
Vancouver Canucks
The ‘Nucks aren’t anywhere near a finished product, but there’s still lots to like from coach Travis Green’s men. Van City have skated around a bunch of injuries; important pieces like Alex Edler, Brock Boeser, Sven Baertschi, Erik Gudbrandson and young phenom Elias Pettersson have all been either nicked up or missed significant time. Still, Vancouver is relatively treading water, ranked fifth in the Pacific.

When the young guns are in (Boeser, Pettersson, and Bo Horvat specifically), Vancouver has the makings of a lethal power play. They rank middle-of-the-pack even with all the attrition on their roster. Vancouver’s case would be helped hugely if the club could get some reliable netminding out of either Jacob Markstrom or Anders Nilsson (who is also getting over a finger injury, I should mention). There’s surely bouts of frustration, but it seems like the arrow is pointing upward on Canada’s Left Coast.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Golden Knights are 4-0 in their last 4 overall.

- Canucks are 0-7 in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest.
Free Vegas Golden Knights vs. Vancouver Canucks NHL Prediction:
I don’t hate what Vancouver brings to the rink every night, but Vegas is just too hot right now to bet against. The Knights are scoring at an ungodly clip, and that should continue with Vancouver’s shoddy goaltending. Look for the Golden Knights to once again get that slot machine spitting out winnings.
