The Canucks have finally accepted they need to rebuild, and dealt long-serviced franchise veterans, Alex Burrows and Jannick Hansen, at the deadline.
The Kings made some interesting deals on Wednesday, adding veteran pieces in effort to make the post season without really giving up any top picks or prospects.
Vancouver Canucks
GM Jim Benning, who was losing the faith of the Canucks’ fan base, may have redeemed himself with two deals at this year’s trade deadline.
He was certainly a winner on the day, acquiring two top-end prospects and a draft pick that could end up being a 1st round selection.
Out are Burrows and Hansen, as mentioned, but coming back to Vancouver are top-prospect, Johnathan Dahlen, and former first-round pick, Nikolay Goldobin.

The two players may help the team address their offensive woes in the coming years, which are evidenced by their 28th ranking in goals per game this season at just 2.3.
Young center, Bo Horvat, is the top offensive threat on the Canucks with 41 points. The team currently does not have a 20-goal scorer on its roster, with Horvat leading the way with 19.
Ryan Miller wasn’t shipped out, as the netminder was only willing to go to a West Coast team but the market was evidently not there following the Ben Bishop deal to LA. Miller will play out the remaining couple months of his contract before becoming a free agent.
He owns a .915 SV% and a 2.67 GAA this season.
Los Angeles Kings
The Kings are a slow team, and they acquired an aging veteran with diminishing foot-speed to apparently fit in with the rest of the roster.
In comes Jarome Iginla, who can still be an asset in the goals column, to try to pair with Anze Kopitar, who is having one of the worst seasons of his career.
Iginla fills the roster spot left by the departed Dwight King, who was sent to Montreal and replaced the 4th round draft pick that was sent to Colorado in the Iginla deal.
The team will really need Iginla to turn his season around, considering they rank 25th in goals per game at 2.4.
The driving force behind the Kings’ offense has been Jeff Carter, who sits 5th in the NHL with 30 goals. He, along with Tanner Pearson, are the only two players in Los Angeles with 20+ goals and 40+ points.

The team is centered around their excellent defensive play and strong goaltending. The blueline is led by Norris-winner, Drew Doughty, who is logging 27:17 minutes on average per game and has 35 points.
The Kings may now have the best goaltending tandem in the league, with Jonathan Quick and Ben Bishop. Quick has recently returned from injury, and has a .921 SV% and a 2.64 GAA in his limited action.
Bishop looked good in his first game as a King, making 28 saves in their OT loss.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The Canucks rank 28th in goals per game at 2.3
- Vancouver is 3-10-1 since February 1st
- Vancouver is 8-20-3 on the road this year
- Los Angeles rank 5th in goals against this season at a mark of 2.5

- Los Angeles is 4-4-2 in their last 10 games
Free Vancouver Canucks vs. Los Angeles Kings NHL Hockey Prediction:
Los Angeles is desperate for every win they can get right now, and will have a favorable matchup against the low-scoring Canucks.
While LA has struggled to score, the Canucks have been even worse, failing to score three goals in each of their last four games.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Under 5.5
I like the Kings to outduel the defensive side of the game, in a low-scoring affair.
