As a result of a scheduling quirk that could only happen this season, the Ducks will be finishing up their “bye week” when they take on the Maple Leafs Friday night in Anaheim.
Toronto meanwhile will go to Anaheim for the second game of an away back-to-back, having played in L.A the night before, not to mention in San Jose on Tuesday.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The rookie-laden Toronto Maple Leafs come into Anaheim looking to keep pace in both the Atlantic division and wild card playoff races.
The Leafs currently trail Boston by 3pts (with 1 game in hand) for the final playoff spot in the Atlantic, and are 1pt up on the Islanders for the final Eastern conference wildcard spot.

The Leafs are a hard bunch to predict this year, which tends to be the case when a team has 10 rookies in their lineup. Auston Matthews 31 goal rookie season thus far sure must make Leaf fans glad their team finished with the best lottery odds in the draft last year.
The Leafs are a team rich in speed and youth. When they are scoring this team is dangerous, but when they are not there are too many holes in their defence to keep them competitive.
Andersen has shown the ability to steal games for them when their defence lets them down, but he hasn’t shown it consistently.
Anaheim Ducks
The well-rested Ducks will be hosting this game after enjoying their franchise’s inaugural “bye week”. Their last game was a 4-1 loss to the Kings on Saturday.
The Pacific division is going to have an interesting final quarter of the season. The Ducks are currently grouped together with the Oilers and Flames jockeying it out for the division’s final two playoff spots. If the Kings go on a run they can’t be counted out of that race either.

The Ducks acquired Patrick Eaves, who had 21 goals this season with Dallas, before the deadline. They also picked up Sam Carrick and Spencer Abbott from Chicago right before the deadline, but it seems like the fanbase was hoping for bigger moves from GM Bob Murray.
After winning the Pacific division four years in a row, this season seems like a step back for the franchise.
With that being said Perry, Kesler and Getzlaf are all in their early 30s now and know how to get it done in the playoffs, so there’s plenty of reason for Ducks fans to feel good too.
NHL Betting Trends:

- Leafs have won 4 of last 5 in Anaheim
Free Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Anaheim Ducks NHL Hockey Prediction:
One team is well-rested and the other on the final game of a west coast road trip, having played the night before as well. The Ducks core players are experienced veterans while the Leafs are basically kids in their late teens and early 20s.
I worry about the Leafs energy levels after a west coast swing, and I don’t like how that matches up against a smart Ducks team.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick:
The Ducks should be able to poke some holes in a tired Leafs defence.
