With four straight losses, the St. Louis Blues have had a tough stretch, and will look to get a much needed win against the fellow Central Division Winnipeg Jets.
Winnipeg, coming off a wild 6-5 loss to the Minnesota Wild, will hope to grab a win here and stay in the Wild Card race in the Western Conference.
St. Louis Blues
After firing Ken Hitchcock and promoting Mike Yeo earlier than expected, the Blues were looking like a new team, poised to climb the Central Division ranks. After winning six of Yeo’s first seven games, the Blues have lost four of the last five and are right back to where the team was before the coaching change.
The goal-scoring is back down and the team has just 11 goals through the last five games. The Blues rank 16th in the NHL in goals this season, but were looking better offensively when Yeo first took over.

The team has gotten great offensive production all season from Vladimir Tarasenko. Through all the struggles he has been fantastic, posting 28 goals and 28 assists, including two goals and an assist in his last five games.
Unfortunately, no other skater has been that consistent for the Blues. Paul Stastny has been the team’s second best forward, putting up 16 goals and 20 assists, including a goal and two assists over his last five.
Winnipeg Jets
Winnipeg isn’t out of the playoff race yet but it needs to win and win often for the rest of the season. Every point counts in the Wild Card race in the Western Conference.
After serving a two-game suspension for an illegal hit to the head, Jacob Trouba will be back in the lineup for the Jets. Trouba is an important defenseman for the team and contributes on the offensive end as well. Trouba has five goals and 19 assists on the year, including a goal over his last five games.
Rookie right wing Patrik Laine, the rookie, is having a tremendous year. He has 31 goals and 25 assists, including five goals and four assists in his last five games.

Center Mark Scheifele has been Winnipeg’s other best forward. He has 26 goals and 39 assists this season. Over his last five games, he has a goal and eight assists.
To get wins, the team has to be better on the defensive end. The Jets rank dead last in goals against this season, giving up 205 in 64 games – 3.20 per game.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The OVER is 6-3 in Winnipeg’s last nine games
- St. Louis is 1-4 SU in the last five games
Free St. Louis Blues vs. Winnipeg Jets NHL Hockey Prediction:
Winnipeg can’t stop offenses and the Blues should be able to take advantage, especially Tarasenko. This game will be close but I think the Blues walk away with the W.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: St. Louis ML
The Blues haven’t looked good over the past few games, but still have a solid team. Against a Winnipeg team with only a couple of guys who can score the puck, I like the Blues to get the win here and the money line for them is a good bet.
