The Wild are coming into this one just 1pt ahead of Chicago for first place in the central, while the St. Louis Blues are trying to keep their head above the playoff cutoff line.
The Kings are just a single point back of the Blues for the final wildcard spot, and considering how well they are known to play in late season the Blues know they can’t sit back.
Minnesota won’t want to sit back either however. With only one division title to their franchise’s resume, they have a chance to have the best season in club history if they can play well down the stretch.
St. Louis Blues
Goaltender Jake Ellen has really come to play lately for the Blues. Such was the case in Colorado on Sunday, when he made 27 saves to shutout the Avs.
Unfortunately for St. Lous, the shutout win was the first in six games for the club.

The Blues lost their previous five games. You have to go all the way back to February 18th to find the last time the Blues were in the win column.
Despite the recent struggles, St. Louis still stands within striking distance of Nashville for the last divisional playoff spot, and still remain above the Kings for the last wildcard spot.
For them to get where they want to be however, they need to take advantage of Ellen’s strong play as of late. It wouldn’t hurt if Tarasenko could turn it up as well.
He hasn’t scored a goal in the last 6 games and is a -3 during that time.
Minnesota Wild
The Minnesota Wild have scored the 2nd most goals of any NHL team this year, and given up the 3rd least amount.
Scoring goals and not giving up goals are generally the most important things in hockey, which explains why things are going so well for the Wild.
Despite how good the club has been this year, they are going to be in tough to keep their division lead as we move further into the final quarter of regular season play.
The Blackhawks are just 1pt back (though they’ve played 2 more games). A good stretch of hockey for either team could change how the playoffs stack up.
Devan Dubnyk’s .933 save percentage this year leads the league and his 2.01 GAA is second to only the Capitals Braden Holtby, as those two duke out who is going to win the Vezina this year.

The Wild aren’t all goaltending however, as the 209 goals they’ve scored this year indicates.
They have spread their scoring out however, with several players around the 20 goal mark. Eric Staal (19), Mikko Koivu (17), Mikael Granlund (21) and Jason Tucker (20) are all getting the job done offensively for the Wild.

Free St. Louis Blues vs. Minnesota Wild NHL Hockey Prediction:
This game is between one team who have been playing well, and another who is starting to slump at an inopportune time. St. Louis has lost 5 of their last 6 and are losing ground to the non-playoff teams chasing them. Meanwhile Minnesota has won 3 of 4 and have arguably the best goaltender in the league right now.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Wild -1.5.
Dubnyk won’t let more than two passed him.
