The Blues had their chance to clinch at home and advance to the Conference Finals, but instead dug themselves a giant hole they couldn’t get out of.
Now, the series shifts back to Dallas with the series on the line here in Game 7.
St. Louis Blues
St. Louis stole Game 5 here in Dallas, but with a chance to clinch a spot in the Conference Finals, they simply flopped under the pressure.
The Blues conceded 3 straight goals to the Stars and tried battling back all night long, but the gap was too big to fill. St. Louis got goals from Alexander Steen and Patrik Berglund in the 2nd and 3rd periods to cut the deficit to 1 goal, but they couldn’t get any closer.

G Brian Elliot, who has been so clutch all postseason long, was benched just 16:49 in as he was the culprit for allowing all 3 goals on just 7 shots.
The Blues likely will stick with Elliot here in Game 7, but there was some question whether they would go with Elliot or Jake Allen. Allen came in relief and allowed 0 goals the rest of the way to keep the Blues in it.
Dallas Stars
The Stars had just 14 shots in Game 6, but they made it all count early on.
Dallas got goals from Mattias Janmark, Vernon Fiddler, and Jason Spezza all in the first period to set the Stars to a 3-0 lead as they took the home crowd completely out of it.
That’s what Dallas has a chance to do every time they take the ice as their youth is quite the spark plug. This Stars team will always play with energy and can score in bunches.

Kari Lehtonen was the complete opposite of Elliot here. The Stars G turned aside 35 of 37 shots faced and came up extremely clutch down the stretch of the game after the Blues cut the lead to just 1 goal.
Dallas now returns home to a place where they are 31-12-4-0. However, they have dropped 2 games this series here.
