Tuesday, game four is once again in Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena. After the Golden Knights’ 6-3 win on Sunday, Vegas has the series lead and is looking strong against this San Jose defense. This game has huge implications, as another home victory would see the second-year franchise get one game away from the second round of the playoffs.
Vegas Golden Knights
There’s no doubt that, when Mark Stone plays well, the Vegas Golden Knights play well. In game three, Stone opened the scoring just 16 seconds into the first period and then added two others to help solidify the victory.
Stone’s easy backhander early on showed just what’s wrong with Vegas’ opponent — goaltending. If that continues to be an issue for San Jose, this series could end sooner rather than later.

What else has been working besides Stone? The power play. Vegas went 2-for-6 with a man advantage, scoring two of its first four goals on the power play. Capitalizing on an opponent’s mistakes like that often leads to wins, and the Sharks have certainly made a lot of mistakes lately. If the Golden Knights get another five or six opportunities with a man up, expect them to score.
San Jose Sharks
It’s just not working for the Sharks defensively. Martin Jones can’t seem to make a save, and backup Aaron Dell isn’t exactly an ideal playoff option in a series against the tough Golden Knights. Giving up that goal just 16 seconds in on Sunday showed that there’s clearly something wrong with Jones. Whether that’s injury or something else remains to be seen.
Still, it doesn’t all fall on the goalie’s shoulders. The Sharks took six of the first eight penalties in the game, and that led to some early goals for Vegas. The team has to stop the bleeding when it comes to playing shorthanded.

One thing you should keep in mind for game four — a bad hit by Joe Thornton on Tomas Nosek could result in some discipline from the Department of Player Safety. Nothing has been announced or set in stone yet, but you might want to keep an eye on the official Twitter account just in case. Losing Thornton, who has a goal and two assists in the playoffs, would be a bad break for a team in trouble.

Free Vegas Golden Knights vs. San Jose Sharks NHL Prediction:
There’s something wrong with the San Jose goaltending, especially where Martin Jones is concerned. If Jones is starting in between the pipes again, I really like Vegas to grab the win.

The over hit in the first three games of this series as well as the final meeting between these two in the regular season. Just keep riding this until it doesn’t pay off anymore.
