The San Jose Sharks have flip-flopped wins and losses over the last 6 games which bodes well for them Wednesday night after an 0-6 loss in Vegas on Saturday night.
The Sharks are well rested as they head to Toronto as significant +123 underdogs Wednesday night.
The Maple Leafs have outscored opponents 10-2 during the first two games of their three game home stand but will be without Auston Matthews vs. the Sharks as he nurses a shoulder injury. Does that loss tip the cards in the underdogs favor?
San Jose Sharks
San Jose is playing well, currently sitting as the 6th best team in the Western Conference. The Sharks have been very inconsistent lately – well they’ve been consistently inconsistent is more like it.
The San Jose offense has clicked well, scoring 3+ goals in 6 of the last 7. It’s their defense and goaltending that could be an issue vs. Toronto’s top 4 scoring offense however.
The Sharks have two shutouts in their last four games – but have allowed 10 goals in the other two contests. Wednesday’s starter is Aaron Dell, who stopped all 49 shots he faced in back-to-back outings vs. the Blues and Canucks. He then unceremoniously allowed 6 goals on 42 shots to Vegas so who knows what to expect vs. the Leafs?

One thing we can expect from San Jose tonight is for them to pelt Toronto goaltender Frederik Andersen as the Sharks rank 3rd in the league in SOG. The Maple Leafs are 26th on defense in shots allowed so that is a rough combination for tonight.
Evander Kane ranks 6th in the NHL in SOG and he’s fresh after being ejected the last game vs. Vegas. Speaking of fresh, the Sharks have had three nights off since that loss to the Golden Knights so they should be ready to fly on Wednesday.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs are used to playing without Auston Matthews who has been out since October 27th with a shoulder injury. Toronto hasn’t really skipped a beat though going 9-5 over that span and keeping hold of their 3rd spot in the Eastern Conference.
Of course having John Tavares certainly helps and he’s been great lately with 7 goals over his last 10 games.
Overall Toronto has won two in a row, 6 of their last 8, and have a 5-game home winning streak in which they’ve outscored opponents 23-6. The Sharks are 4-5-1 on the road this year but do have the fatigue advantage as Toronto plays in their 2nd game in 3 nights.

Frederik Andersen takes the net Wednesday vs. the Sharks #3 team in SOG. Andersen has been in the zone however posting a 7-2 record over his last 9. That includes six outings of giving up 2 goals or less which means tonight’s O/U could be on the high side.
Then again, the Maple Leafs did get a 5-3 win in San Jose 13 days ago so this total might be tougher to pin down.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Sharks are 1-4 last 5 road games
- Sharks are 1-4 last 5 vs. Eastern Conference
- Maple Leafs are 9-3 their last 12 overall
- Maple Leafs are 4-0 last 4 vs. Western Conference

Free San Jose Sharks vs. Toronto Maple Leafs NHL Prediction:
Toronto is great at home but in the past the Sharks have played very well in Hogtown. The Maple Leafs are susceptible to teams firing away at them and that’s just what Kane, Couture, Pavelski, and Co. thrive on.
The Sharks are traveling, but are also well rested – which is something the Maple Leafs can’t say about themselves.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: San Jose +123
Dell will play much better in goal tonight and the Sharks talented offense will come alive against a fatigued Maple Leafs defesne
