The Oilers lost a heartbreaker in game 1, falling to the Sharks in OT on a Melker Karlsson snipe.
The Sharks held the pace for much of the final minutes and overtime, but Edmonton had a number of their own chances that could’ve iced it.
San Jose Sharks
It was Melker Karlsson as the game 1 hero, streaking down the left side and snapping an excellent wrist shot home past Cam Talbot to take the early series lead.
Both Karlsson, and Tomas Hertl had excellent games for the Sharks, which the team will need repeat of with Joe Thornton out.

Captain Joe Pavelski did an excellent job of being a thorn in Connor McDavid’s side.
Brent Burns was his usual self, leading the game in shots with 8 in the contest. Though it’s fellow blueliner, Marc-Edouard Vlasic , who enters game two with the lead in team points with two.
Martin Jones will get the start again after allowing two goals on 19 shots faced.
Edmonton Oilers
Cam Talbot did everything he could to keep his team in it in game 1, stopping 41 of 44 shots faced. The Oilers will need to play a better game than they did, getting doubled in shots and turning over the puck far too much late in the game and OT.
Connor McDavid was suffocated by Joe Pavelski, but managed to garner an assist in his first playoff game and had a couple quality scoring chances.
His speed stood out though, so expect him to come out firing trying to tie the series up.

Milan Lucic is getting paid for this time of the year, and he looked good while netting a goal and an assist.
The second line will need to continue to outplay that of San Jose’s if Edmonton is to even the series

Free San Jose Sharks vs Edmonton Oilers NHL Game 2 Playoff Prediction:
While game 1 looked to be all San Jose, and they certainly did outplay the Oilers, Connor McDavid had a couple of grade-A chances that could’ve earned his home team the win.
4* Free Game 2 NHL Betting Pick: Edmonton ML -125
I expect the squad to regroup, and come out hard in game 2 to split the series before heading to California.
