Round two of Crosby vs McDavid goes on Wednesday night, as the Penguins are in Edmonton to take on the Oilers. Pittsburgh won round of the two-game battle just over a week ago with a 2-1 OT victory.
Pittsburgh Penguins:
The Penguins were absolutely flat in their last game, falling behind 5-0 in the first period against the Winnipeg Jets, en route to a 7-1 loss. That was the third time this season that the Pens have been beaten by six or more goals, including another 7-1 defeat at the hands of Tampa Bay and a 10-1 embarrassment against Chicago.

The positive is that the two-time reigning champs have bounced back nicely after terrible games, coincidentally with their 7-1 loss to Tampa being followed up with a win over the very same Oilers that they’ll play on Wednesday evening. Expect a much better effort from this team.
Edmonton Oilers
This has not been the start that the Oilers envisioned for their 2017-18 campaign. A team that was projected to contend for top spot in the West has been anything but impressive, managing just three wins in their first 10 games.

The offense needs to find a way to get clicking without Connor McDavid carrying the bulk of the workload. Last year’s MVP is having a mediocre start by his standards, with 11 points in 10 games, but when you look at the fact that the Oilers have just 22 goals so far, that puts McDavid smack dab on the 50% mark in terms of how often he contributes to a goal. It’s going to be very easy to beat this team if they can’t get some offensive input from players other than number 97.
Free Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Edmonton Oilers NHL Prediction:
Two teams coming off of losses in which they gave up a bunch of goals, I like this one to be a defensive battle and go under, just as the first meeting between them did.
