This game features a pair of struggling teams as the Philadelphia Flyers head to British Columbia to face a Vancouver Canucks team that is falling further and further out of a playoff spot.
Philadelphia Flyers
Can you recall when the Flyers rattled off 10 straight wins and legitimately looked like the best team in the NHL? It seems like forever ago, because the Flyers have since faded into the abyss.
Having lost nine of their previous 14 games, Philadelphia is now two points behind the Maple Leafs for the Eastern Conference’s final playoff spot. The offense has been the main culprit during this month-long skid as the Flyers have averaged a measly 1.57 goals per game over their last 14 games.

Brayden Schenn was supposed to take the next step after an incredibly successful 2015-16 season, but he limps into this game with only 37 points and a +/- of -20.
Philadelphia has also struggled on the road, another reason for their skid. The Flyers are just 10-18 SU away from Wells Fargo Center and are only 2-8 SU in their last 10 road games.
Vancouver Canucks
Despite losing seven of their last nine games, the Canucks are only five points out of a playoff spot. With the Sedin twins in the lineup, we’re used to seeing Vancouver score goals on a regular basis.
That hasn’t been the case this year though, as the Canucks rank 28th in goals (2.31 per game) and 27th on the power play. Vancouver has just three players with at least 30 points, and two of them are the Sedins. Needless to say, there isn’t much offense outside of Daniel and Henrik.

Goaltending hasn’t been much friendlier to the Canucks either, who are stuck with Ryan Miller in the twilight of his exceptional NHL career. Miller is just 15-16-3 this year, though his .916 save percentage is respectable. He also has three shutouts to boot.
If there is a saving grace for the Canucks in this game, it’s the fact that they’ll be playing at home. Vancouver boasts a 17-11 SU record at home compared to an awful 8-22 SU record on the road.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Flyers are 10-18 SU on the road.
- Flyers are 2-8 SU in their last 10 road games.
- Flyers O/U is 2-9 in their last 11 games.
- Canucks are 17-11 SU at home.
- Canucks are 5-7 in back-to-back games.
Free Philadelphia Flyers vs. Vancouver Canucks NHL Hockey Prediction:
Neither one of these teams is playing well right now, but it’s all about finding the best value. Vancouver has played much better at home, and the Flyers have been absolutely terrible on the road.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Vancouver ML
Philadelphia is also having an incredibly tough time putting the puck in the back of the net, so the Canucks could very well score two goals and win. I’ll side with the home team in this spot.
