Coming off a 3-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday, the Philadelphia Flyers head to Minnesota to take on the Wild.
Minnesota, coming off a win over San Jose that stopped a five-game skid, will look to get back on track after winning just two games in the last eight.
Philadelphia Flyers
Sitting 7th in the Metropolitan Division, this season started off much better for the Philadelphia Flyers than it’s going to end. The Flyers were looking for a playoff spot and basically have no shot at one at this point.
The offense and defense has been pretty poor this season, ranking 20th in the league in goals scored and 25th in goals against. The Flyers average 2.61 goals per game but give up 3.00 goals per game.

Offensively, the main goal-scorer has been Wayne Simmonds, who is having an All-Star season. Simmonds has 29 goals and 19 assists, including a goal and an assist over his last five games.
Center Brayden Schenn has been solid offensively as well. He has 22 goals and 25 assists, including three goals and two assists over his last five games.
Unfortunately, these offensive stars haven’t been able to carry a team that has suffered from bad defense and poor goaltending. Starter Steve Mason is 21-21-7 on the year with a 2.77 goals against average and a mediocre .905 save percentage.
Minnesota Wild
2-7-0 in the last nine games, the Minnesota Wild are slumping at the wrong time and the team is losing ground in the Central Division to the Chicago Blackhawks. With 10 games to go, the Wild have to right the ship and get every point possible in hopes of regaining the top spot.
The team has struggled recently on both sides of the ice. Defensively, over the last nine games, the Wild have given up 29 goals, an average of 3.22 goals per game. This is uncharacteristic for a team that, for the season, gives up just 2.50 per game.

Offensively, the team has struggled in that stretch as well. The team has 23 goals over the last nine games, averaging 2.55 per game. For the year, the Wild average 3.26 per game.
The top scorer has been center Mikael Granlund. He has 25 goals and 41 assists this season, including two goals and an assist over his last five games.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Philadelphia is 2-4 ATS in the last six games
- The Total has gone OVER in four of Minnesota’s last six games
Free Philadelphia Flyers vs. Minnesota Wild NHL Hockey Prediction:
Despite a very poor stretch for Minnesota, the Wild are still a dangerous team and should take care of an inconsistent Flyers team. With Dubnyk in goal and the offense playing well, the Wild will get the W in this one.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Minnesota -1.5
When Minnesota gets going on offense, the team is hard to stop. With Devan Dubnyk in goal and the defense at full strength, the Wild should hold off a Flyers team that is very hit or miss this season. I’ll take the Wild to cover the spread.
