Coming off a 4-2 loss to Toronto, the Philadelphia Flyers head to Boston to take on the increasingly tough Bruins.
Boston, winners of five out of seven including a 6-1 blowout over Detroit, face the Flyers and look to continue the great stretch of games that have the team sitting 3rd in the Atlantic Division.
Philadelphia Flyers
Early in the season, Philadelphia was looking like a tough team to beat and one that would be poised for a playoff birth. Unfortunately, things haven’t stayed that way and the Flyers have slipped to 6th place in the Metropolitan Division.
The Flyers haven’t been very good on either end of the ice, having troubles scoring and keeping opponents out of the net. Philly averages 2.6 goals per game and gives up just under three per game. The team’s minus-25 goal differential on the year has led to a lot of losses.

Offensively, the team’s main weapon has been All-Star right wing Wayne Simmonds. Simmonds has 28 goals and 17 assists this season, including three goals over his last five games.
Center Brayden Schenn has been solid for the Flyers as well. He has 19 goals and 23 assists, including two assists over his last five games.
Right wing Jakub Voracek has been an important contributor. He’s put up 17 goals and 37 assists in 66 games. Over his last five games, he has a goal and three assists.
Boston Bruins
Boston under Bruce Cassidy continues to dazzle and play great hockey. Since firing Claude Julien and promoting Cassidy, the Bruins are 9-3-0 and have been better on both sides of the ice and in goal.
The scoring has been much better. The team ranks 11th in the league in goals scored, averaging 2.81 goals per game. The scoring has been led by left wing Brad Marchand. He has 32 goals and 38 assists on the season, including five goals and an assist in his last five games.
Marchand’s brilliant play has slightly overshadowed the brilliant play of David Pastrnak. He has 27 goals and 30 assists this season, including a goal and five assists over his last five games. He has a point in each of those games.

The goaltending has gotten better also. Tuukka Rask has looked extremely confident in goal, posting a 31-16-4 record. He is 3-2-0 over his last five starts but has given up just 2.00 goals per game during that stretch.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Philadelphia is 4-1 ATS in the last five games
- The Total has gone OVER in 12 of Boston’s last 16 games
Free Philadelphia Flyers vs. Boston Bruins NHL Hockey Prediction:
Philadelphia continues to play poor hockey and Boston is on a roll since the coaching change. This is Boston’s game to lose and I’m confident it won’t. Boston gets the W at home.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: OVER 5.5
Boston has the ability right now to score four or five goals any given night. Philly has offensive weapons in Wayne Simmonds and Brayden Schenn. This game should hit the Over.
