A pair of Eastern Conference foes will do battle in the City of Brotherly Love Saturday as the Philadelphia Flyers welcome the New York Rangers to the Wells Fargo Center.
[dfads params=’groups=234&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
The Rangers are looking for their 3rd-straight win while the Flyers are hoping to get 2nd-straight victory for themselves as they begin a 4-game home stand.
New York
The Rangers lost their mojo for a bit after starting the season 3-0. New York managed just 2 goals in its next 3 games after the hot start, and dropped all 3 along the way.
Fortunately, the Rangers seem to be back on the mark after scoring 4 goals in each of their last 2 games.

Henrik Lundqvist will always be the catalyst that keeps the Rangers going, and he’s done a solid job so far keeping the puck out of the net.
Lundqvist’s save percentage of .938 ranks 10th in the NHL, and the Rangers are always confident they’ll win whenever King Henrik is in net.
The Rangers are being recognized more for their defense than their offense this season, as some of their playmakers have gotten off to slow starts. New York is only surrendering 2 goals per game on average, 2nd-best in the NHL.
They haven’t lit up the score board like we’re accustomed to seeing, but the Rangers spreading the puck around and getting production from several guys.
Philadelphia
After losing 2-1 to the Dallas Stars, the Flyers went into Boston and beat the Bruins 5-4 in overtime after scoring two goals in the 3rd period to tie it up.
Claude Giroux sealed the deal in overtime as he blasted a slaps hot past Tuukka Rask to give the Flyers their 3rd win of the season.
The question is: Can the Flyers build off that momentum?
[dfads params=’groups=235&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
Steve Mason is expected to get the start for Philadelphia, and his 2015-16 season has gotten off to a rough start. Mason is just 1-2-1 on the season with a save percentage of .878 and a goals against average of nearly 4.
Michal Neuvirth has without a doubt been the better goalie for Philadelphia, but it looks like Mason will get the start in this one after Neuvirth left in the 1st period against Boston with an upper body injury. Mason didn’t get much work against the Bruins as he only faced 18 shots. However, he let 2 of those in.
Sans that 5-goal outburst against the Bruins, the Flyers struggled to score during their previous 3 games where they averaged just 2 goals per game in that span. If they want a chance to beat the Rangers, they’ll have to continue getting shots on net.
Their 33 shots per game is 4th in the NHL, though their shooting percentage is 25th.

The Rangers will capitalize against a struggling Steve Mason between the pipes.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: New York ML -130
I’d be happier if this number was closer to -120, but -130 isn’t a terrible number. I’d be more hesitant to take it if Neuvirth was starting, but it looks like that injury will keep him out of this one, and I don’t have any faith in Steve Mason.
