Two teams who have started their seasons off on the right foot meet on Saturday night as the New York Rangers head into St. Louis to take on the Blues.
The Rangers took down their rivals in the New York Islanders while the Blues had back to back wins over Chicago and Minnesota.
New York Rangers
The Rangers raced out to a 2-0 lead over the Islanders before a shoot out broke out in New York.
Both the Rangers and Islanders put in 3 goals in the 3rd period, as the Rangers ran off 3 straight after allowing the Isles to tie things up at 2.
New York picked up right where they left off from last season in terms of peppering the net. The Rangers compiled 39 shots in the victory, as they found success on the rebounds and 2nd and 3rd chances.

G Henrik Lundqvist turned away 25 of the 28 shots faced, as he has been a hit or miss goalie in the regular season. Last year, he allowed nearly 2.5 goals per game as he finished 35-21-7.
Game 1 also showed off how deep this Rangers team is. They are constantly sending out different lines and players and have a lot of different players who see similar ice time. Expect that to be a trend going forward the bottom lines for the Rangers can produce just as much as the top ones.
St. Louis Blues
The St. Louis Blues started the season off with a back to back and it proved no issue for them.
After heading into Chicago and shutting down the Blackhawks, the Blues returned home for their home opener and held off the Wild.
With G Brian Elliot heading to Calgary, Jake Allen will be the number 1 guy in net. Allen relished in the role in the first two games, allowing just 2 goals in each.

One thing to watch here against the Rangers is Vladimir Tarasenko and how many shots he can get.
The Rangers defense doesn’t allow many shots as they flock to the puck and will block a lot. Tarasenko has 9 shots through the first 2 games and isn’t afraid to pull the trigger from anywhere.
He’s a giant part of the Blues scoring attack and when he’s getting his shots in, that means the offense is typically finding success.
