With five straight wins, the Chicago Blackhawks are looking like a scarier team than a month ago as they continue a home stand against the New York Islanders.
New York, on the second night of a back-to-back, head into the United Center looking like a better team as well and will look for a crucial two points to keep the team in the hunt in the Metropolitan Division.
New York Islanders
Under Doug Weight, the New York Islanders have looked like a much better, more confident team. The Isles are 12-5-0 under Weight and are sitting 5th in the Metropolitan Division. Every game counts but this team does have a shot at a Wild Card spot so it’ll be playing hard down the stretch.
The offense has been fantastic for the Islanders, save for a 7-0 loss to Columbus over the weekend. The Isles rank 11th in total goals scored this season with 180, averaging about 2.95 per game.

The goal scoring has been led by captain John Tavares, who has 23 goals and 29 assists in 61 games this season. He has three goals and an assist in his last five games.
He’s been backed up by some great play from Anders Lee. Lee has 23 goals as well, along with 14 assists this season. In his last five games, he has a goal and an assist.
Chicago Blackhawks
February was a fantastic month for the Central Division Blackhawks and March got off to a great start with a 4-1 win over Pittsburgh. Chicago has looked great over the past few weeks and a lot of that has to do with the stellar play of captain Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.
Toews and Kane were both in the top five in points for the month of February, with Toews leading the pack with 18 points (7G, 11A). Kane was right behind him with 16 points (9G, 7A) while also starting March off with a hat trick.

After a rocky first half of the season, Toews has looked like the Toews of old. He has 16 goals and 30 assists on the season and has found some great top-line help in the likes of Nick Schmaltz and Richard Panik. Kane has been predictably brilliant and has 27 goals and 41 assists on the year.
One note, on the injury front, is that Artem Anisimov will be out with a lower body injury, which could hurt the Blackhawks a bit. Anisimov has been an integral part of this team, posting 22 goals and 21 assists on the year.
NHL Betting Trends:
- New York is 14-6 ATS in the last 20 games
- The Total has gone OVER in four of Chicago’s last five games
