Coming off its 9th loss in a row, the New Jersey Devils head to Arizona to take on the Coyotes in what will be their best chance to grab a win lately.
Arizona, coming off a loss in overtime to Ottawa, will look to grab a win against a Devils team that is struggling to find ways to win over the past month.
New Jersey Devils
It’s all gone horribly wrong for the New Jersey Devils, who have lost nine straight games and are playing extremely poor hockey on both ends of the ice. Nothing has gone right on offense as the Devils sit 2nd to worst in the NHL in goals this season.
The team averages just 2.22 goals per game and doesn’t have a lot of skaters who can put the puck in the back of the net. The team’s leading goal-scorer has been right wing Kyle Palmieri.
Check out the free sports picks from Cappers Picks experts today!
Palmieri has 20 goals and 22 assists this season, including a goal and an assist over his last five games.
After trading away P.A. Parenteau at the deadline, the Devils lost another solid scorer (13G, 14A) and haven’t found ways to pick up his slack.
Taylor Hall continues to play well, despite the lack of offense his team generates. He has 15 goals and 28 assists, including a goal and an assist over the last five games.
Arizona Coyotes
The Arizona Coyotes continue to “tank” and hope for that number one draft pick in Nolan Patrick come June’s NHL Entry Draft. The Coyotes have almost no scorers left after trading away Martin Hanzal and the team is just limping through these last 15-16 games.
It’s not like the offense was ever great this year. The team is 27th in the NHL in goals scored, averaging just 2.41 goals per game. The defense hasn’t been any better, ranking 27th in the league in goals against. Arizona gives up 3.23 per game.

The man left to generate the offense is Radim Vrbata. Vrbata has been Arizona’s most consistent point getter this season, posting 15 goals and 33 assists in 66 games this season. Over his last five games, he has two assists.
Right wing Tobias Reider has also played some decent hockey for Arizona. He has 14 goals and 15assists, including a goal and three assists over his last five games.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The Total has gone OVER in two of New Jersey’s last seven games
- Arizona is 1-4 SU in the last five games
Free New Jersey Devils vs. Arizona Coyotes NHL Hockey Prediction:
Arizona’s season is all but over and you should expect the Coyotes to play for the number one pick in this year’s draft. New Jersey should get the W in this one and break its nine game losing streak.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: New Jersey ML
I’ll take New Jersey to break the slump here and the money line is a good choice. Neither team is playing inspired hockey so it isn’t the easiest pick, but New Jersey should come away with the win.
