The Nashville Predators travel to Motown to take on the Detroit Red Wings in a Saturday night showdown.

Nashville
After a hot start to the season, the Nashville Predators find themselves in a bit of a rut. The Predators are just 1-4 during their five-game road trip, and head into the road trip’s final game with a road record of just 5-5-2.
With 30 points, the Predators find themselves tied for 3rd in the Central Division with the Minnesota Wild and the Chicago Blackhawks.

Nashville is expected to start Pekka Rinne in goal against the Red Wings on Saturday. Rinne is 11-6-4 on the season with a GAA of 2.32 and a save percentage of .909. Rinne hasn’t been as strong in goal lately, but the Predators as a team just aren’t scoring enough goals.
During their five-game road trip, the Predators have been outscored 16-5, and they’ve only scored 12 goals over their last eight games. It’s tough to win games when you’re only scoring 1.5 goals per contest like Nashville’s been doing.
Detroit
The Detroit Red Wings come into this game firing on offense. The Wings are averaging more than 3 goals per game over their last five home games, and have notched 10 goals in their last two.
Detroit is still nine points behind the first place Montreal Canadiens in the Atlantic Division, but the team is playing better hockey as of late, posting a record of 6-1-3 in its last 10 games.

Detroit is putting up middle-of-the-road numbers on offense for the season, but a string of offensive outbursts has the Red Wings at the top of their game. Detroit has totaled 90 shots in its last two games, a big reason why the team has scored 10 goals in that span.
Justin Abdelkader has notched three goals in those two games, and center Dylan Larkin’s plus-minus ratio of 17 is tops in the NHL.
NHL Hockey Handicapping Trends
- Predators are 2-6 SU in their last 8 games.
- Predators are 1-4 SU in their last 5 road games.
- Red Wings are 5-2 SU in their last 7 games.
- Red Wings are 5-2 SU against Predators last 7 games.
- Total has gone UNDER in 8 of last 11 meetings between these two teams.
Free NHL Hockey Prediction
The Predators are struggling on both sides of the ice recently, and they’ll have a tough time closing out their road trip against a team that’s spent the last two games scoring at will.
