Central Division foes Chicago and Nashville will lock horns on Thursday night. The Blackhawks are in a tight battle for top spot in the division while the Predators are just looking to keep pace and hold on to a wild card spot.
These teams have seen plenty of each other in the past year with a first round playoff meeting last April. This will be the 15th time the two have met since October of 2014.
The Hawks hold a 10-4 advantage since last season and have not lost at home to the Preds in that span.
Nashville
The Predators wrap up a pretty hectic road trip with their third game in four nights. The trip took them through Eastern Canada, playing the lowly Leafs and Canadiens.

No one wants to wrap up a stretch of three games in four nights playing against the reigning Stanley Cup champs.
That being said, the Predators have found their defensive game of late and have posted a pair of shut outs in the last 11 days to go along with a pair of tightly contested overtime games that finished in a 2-1 loss to the Kings and a 2-1 shootout victory over the Canadiens.
Their defensive effort will need to be as good, if not better, than those games as they are playing in a building that has been anything but friendly for them.
Since the start of the 2014-15 season the Preds are winless in their seven visits to the United Center.
They’ll be playing a rested Chicago team that has not played since Sunday, in a game where they were embarrassed at the hands of another Central Division foe, the Minnesota Wild.
The Hawks will be looking to right the ship so a strong first period to withstand a Blackhawks onslaught will be of the utmost importance in this game.
Chicago
As mentioned, Chicago was absolutely manhandled by the Wild on Sunday, getting waxed 6-1 in the first of the 2015-16 Stadium Series games.
Maybe it was the outdoors, maybe it was running into a hot Minnesota team, maybe it was just an off day, but whatever it was the Blackhawks looked awful on Sunday and were never in the game at any point.
This is a team with three Stanley Cups in the last five years however, and they know how to respond after a bad game.
Thursday’s game really starts at the back end for Chicago as they’re playing a Nashville team that does not get into track meets, but rather looks to play close games and grind out one-goal wins.
Corey Crawford has been a tire fire in February and was pulled for the second time this month in Sunday’s beat down at the hands of the Wild. He was also pulled in a loss to the Stars where he was lit up for four goals in the first period before spending the rest of the game on the bench.

Crawford has just one win in his last five starts and even in that game he gave up three goals. He’s given up 14 goals in his last nine periods of work…that’s really bad.
Crawford needs to hold the fort early so his team can get rolling because the Preds are not built to get into a scoring race, especially against a team with the firepower of the Blackhawks.

Free Nashville Predators vs. Chicago Blackhawks NHL Hockey Prediction
Nashville playing their third game in four nights, all on the road, against a rested Chicago team is a recipe for trouble.
The Blackhawks will be eager to get their confidence back after a bad loss on the weekend, and they’re playing a team that they’ve held a distinct advantage over for some time, especially in the United Center.
