The Montreal Canadiens did some interesting adding at the trade deadline, mostly in effort to address their team size by dealing for Steve Ott, Dwight King, Andreas Martinsen, Jordie Benn and Brendan Davidson.
The Canucks were also active, acquiring two solid young prospects and a conditional pick while shipping out veteran forwards, Alex Burrows and Jannick Hansen.
Montreal Canadiens
While GM Marc Bergevin added the names above in an effort to get bigger and tougher to play against, he certainly didn’t address the teams need for foot-speed or scoring.
The much speculated deal of acquiring a scoring forward, namely either Matt Duchene or Thomas Vanek, did not transpire and the Habs will enter playoffs with Alex Galchenyuk as their #1 center.
Max Pacioretty is the leading force on offense for Montreal, as the captain sits in a tie for 3rd overall in the Rocket Richard race with his 31 goals.

On the year, “Patches” has 58 points in 66 games. His line mate, Alex Radulov, has been a solid find and sits second in Habs’ points with 46.
Their defensive corps now look like their strength, with Shea Weber, Andrei Markov and Jeff Petry now being joined by Nathan Beaulieu, Alexei Emelin and Jordie Benn.
Weber is third in team scoring with 15 goals and 38 points.
Carey Price is returning to all-worldly form after slumping for a month or so.
Price still owns a .922 SV% and a 2.31 GAA on the season, and has rattled off four straight wins where he allowed more than one goal once, in a 3-2 victory over Toronto.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks GM Jim Benning was a big winner of trade deadline day, sending speedy winger, Jannick Hansen, to the San Jose Sharks for former 2014 1st-round pick, Nikolay Goldobin and a conditional 4th round pick.
The pick could turn into the Sharks 1st round selection should they win the Stanley Cup.
Benning then followed up the Sharks trade by acquiring blue-chip 19-year old prospect, Jonathan Dahlen, from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for veteran Alex Burrows. Dahlen was one of the top players for Sweden in the most recent World Junior tournament.
The two will join current young center, Bo Horvat, who will see his rookie-deal expire in the summer and is setting himself up for a nice payday. Horvat has registered 20 goals and 45 overall points on the year, both marks leading the club.
The 21-year old Horvat has been pegged as the next Canucks captain.

Veteran netminder, Ryan Miller, is in his final year of a three-year, $18-million deal and but there was apparently no market for his services at the deadline.
It’s widely known that Miller will only play on the West Coast , and will play out the final months of his deal and become a free agent. He has a .916 SV% and 2.67 GAA.

Free Montreal Canadiens vs. Vancouver Canucks NHL Hockey Prediction:
The Canucks sit in second last in the Pacific Division, although they are still only six points back of the final wildcard seed.
They’ve dealt veterans away in effort to re-stock the cupboard for the future, and are seeing what they have with some minor league players, such as goalie Richard Bachman who started last game.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Under 5.
Montreal is atop their Atlantic Division and Carey Price has been on fire, though he may give way to solid back-up, Al Montoya, against the Canucks.
