Coming off a 5-2 win over Buffalo, the 1st place Atlantic Division Montreal Canadiens head to Philadelphia to take on the slumping Flyers.
Sitting 5th in the Metropolitan, the Flyers need to start stringing wins together in order to climb back up in the top 3 of their tough division.
Montreal Canadiens
Coming off a fantastic performance against Buffalo, the Canadiens will look to continue their solid offensive performance and take a win against Philadelphia.
Montreal has been a good team on both sides of the ice all year and it has led them to the top of the Atlantic Division and, barring a huge slump, a playoff birth.

Max Pacioretty has been wonderful for the Canadiens all year and he recorded his second hat trick of the year against Buffalo. Pacioretty has 24 goals on the season and, if he gets his opportunity, chances are he’ll score again against Philly.
It’s also nice to see David Desharnais back after missing the last 24 games with an injury. He made his veteran presence known immediately after scoring in the second period against Buffalo. Look for him to improve his team’s already good offense.
Beating the Flyers will require some solid play from guys like Pacioretty and Desharnais. These guys will get their shots on goal, especially considering how poor the Flyers’ defense is.
All they have to do is capitalize on those chances.
Philadelphia Flyers
Sitting 5th in the Metropolitan Division, things aren’t looking so hot for the Flyers. Over the past month, Philly was 5-8 and struggled to compete against its Metro rivals.
To get to the playoffs this season, the Flyers have to start winning games and defeating good competition.
To do so, Philly is going to need to start scoring more. The team averages 2.7 goals per game, putting it 16th in the NHL in that category. However, the team gives up 3.1 per game, 6th worst in the NHL.

The defense has left a lot to be desired and that will bode well for an offensive force like the Canadiens.
Offensively, the Flyers need more production. All-Star Wayne Simmonds has been the Flyers’ best forward. Simmonds has 21 goals on the season along with 17 assists.
He’s been helped out a lot by Jakub Voracek, who has 14 goals and 31 assists, giving him a team-leading 45 points on the year.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Montreal is 3-6 ATS in the last nine games
- Philadelphia is 1-8 ATS in the last nine games
Free Montreal Canadiens vs. Philadelphia Flyers NHL Hockey Prediction:
Montreal is a strong team and Philly can’t seem to find its footing over the past month. I like the Canadiens to take the W here.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Montreal ML
The Canadiens are playing much better hockey right now than the Flyers are. Philly’s poor defense will give Montreal a lot of opportunities. I like the Montreal money line here.
