Chicago needs to take 2pts away from the Wild here to stay in the hunt for first place in the Central. That will be easier said than done however, as the Wild are having the season of the franchise’s dreams.
While Chicago has grown accustomed to success from their hockey club, Minnesota has seen little of it over the years.
The franchise has only advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs 3 times in their history, meanwhile the Chicago Blackhawks could potentially win their 4th cup since 2010 this year.
Minnesota Wild
The Wild sit 3pts back of the Caps in the President’s trophy race, and 3pts up on Chicago for the divisional lead in the Central. The franchise has only one division championship in their history..
They’ve also only won 4 playoff series in their history, and never more than 2 in a given year. With a goalie like Devin Dubnyk however, a deep playoff run seems likely this season for the Wild.

Eric Staal scored his 20th and 21st goals of the season in a 7-4 win over Florida on Friday night. The 32 year old is on pace to score more goals this season since his 2010-11 campaign, when he netted 33.
Devin Dubnyk is in a race with the Caps’ Braden Holtby for the Vezina this year, and is sporting a .932 save percentage. He benefits from a great offence in front of him as well, as the Wild are 2nd in the league in goals scored.
Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks come into this one having dropped two straight in a back-to-back set on Thursday and Friday. A 1-0 loss to Anaheim and a 4-2 loss to Detroit might indicate a small scoring slump brewing.
Chicago is 8th in the league in scoring, with several players crossing the 20 goal mark already this year. Kane has the team lead with 29, though not on pace with the 46 he scored last year.

The Blackhawks haven’t had to worry about goaltending this year, they’ve gotten solid play from both Corey Crawford and Scott Darling. Crawford has a .918 save percentage this year in 44 games, and Darling’s at .931 in 26 (23 starts).
They will have to do without Darling for another week however, as the 28 year old is out with an upper body injury.
