Tuesday night, the Edmonton Oilers head to Tampa to take on the Atlantic Division’s Tampa Bay Lightning.
Winners of four of the last five, the Oilers are playing some solid hockey right now and are solidifying their place in the Pacific Division playoff race.
Meanwhile, the Lightning are still in the Atlantic Division hunt, despite struggling all season and dealing with injuries.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers are playing some of their best hockey of the season recently, winning four of the last five, including a 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
Led by Connor McDavid, the Oilers are a solid team on the offensive end, scoring 171 goals this season (10th in the NHL). McDavid leads the team – and NHL – with 67 points, including 20 goals and 47 points. In his last five games, he has two goals and five assists.

McDavid is not alone on the scoring front, though. He’s had a lot of help from skaters like Leon Draisaitl. Draisaitl has 22 goals and 30 assists this season. Over his last five games, he has two goals and three assists.
Left wing Patrick Maroon has also played some great hockey. He has 20 goals and 10 assists, including two goals and two assists over his last five.
The defense has been great for Edmonton. The team has let in just 152 goals on the year, good for 8th in the NHL.
Tampa Bay Lightning
For at least another month, Tampa Bay is still without Steven Stamkos. That’s the bad news. The good new is that this team still has something to play for, as the Lightning are not mathematically out of the Eastern Conference playoff hunt.
The Lightning have points in each of the last six games and are 4-0-2 in that stretch. The team has been playing better hockey recently and getting a lot of quality play from skaters like Nikita Kucherov and Jonathan Drouin.
Right win Nikita Kucherov, has been having a breakout season. Kucherov, an All-Star this year, has 21 goals and 28 assists. In his last five games, he has a pair of goals.

Left wing Jonathan Drouin is playing extremely well too, making some brilliant individual plays on offense and defense recently. He has 17 goals and 19 assists this season.
Over his last five games, he has two goals and two assists including an OT winner on Sunday against Colorado.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Edmonton is 5-1 ATS in the last six games
- Tampa Bay is 4-2 SU in the last six games
Free Edmonton Oilers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning NHL Hockey Prediction:
Both teams have been playing solid hockey recently and the Oilers have looked particularly tough against high-quality teams. I like McDavid and Draisaitl to overwhelm the Tampa Bay defense and score a goal each. The Oilers get the W here.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Edmonton ML
Edmonton isn’t the favorite in this game, but I think their recent play dictates what we’ll see in this game. The Oilers are a great team and should score some goals against an average Lightning defense.
