Two third-place teams meet in St. Louis as the Pacific Division Oilers take on the Central Division Blues.
The Oilers are coming off a 3-2 shootout victory over the Lightning while the Blues are off a 6-4 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers head on the road, where they have a decent 8-5-4 record this season. They’ll look to take care of the Blues and start climbing the ranks of the Pacific Division.
This is Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl’s team and it’s going pretty well for them so far. Leading the league in points, McDavid has 39 points (12G, 27A). However, he hasn’t been brilliant as of late.
In his last five games, McDavid has one goal and two assists.

Draisaitl has been coming on strong recently.
He has 14 goals and 14 assists on the year, including six points (3G, 4A) in his last five games. He’s been a complete player this season and, along with McDavid, has been a key contributor to the Oilers’ solid start.
The 4th ranked team in goals scored will need to continue playing its up-tempo offense and get contributions from both its stars in order to take care of the tough St. Louis Blues in the Scottrade Center.
St. Louis Blues
A hard fought 6-4 loss to the Blackhawks shouldn’t take anything away from the fact that the Blues have been playing good hockey at home all year.
The Blues are 13-2-3 in the Scottrade Center this season and 12 of those home games have seen St. Louis give up two or less goals.
Even in games with lackluster defense, the Blues have been able to get it done on the offensive end. The team ranks 8th in the NHL in goals scored (91) and has gotten key contributions from leading scorer Vladimir Tarasenko.

His 15 goals and 22 assists put him at the top of the team in goals, assists, and total points. His 37 points also put him in second place, right behind the Oilers’ Connor McDavid, in total points in the NHL.
With Tarasenko acting as instant offense when he’s on the ice, the Blues always have a shot to win even the toughest of games.
The team will need him to step up and keep up with guys like McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The OVER is 3-1-1 in the Blues’ last five games
- Edmonton is 8-5-4 on the road this season
Free Edmonton Oilers vs. St. Louis Blues NHL Hockey Prediction:
St. Louis is so good at home. As good as the Oilers offense is, I don’t think they’ll win in the Scottrade Center on Monday night. St. Louis should get a point or two from Tarasenko and he’ll help get the W at home.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Over 5
Neither of these teams are great defensively and both are in the top 10 offensively. This should be a high scoring game and we’re sure to see more than five total goals.
