New regime, New GM in John Chyka, some new bodies in the system, but the same ol’ results for the Arizona Coyotes so far.
Arizona sits dead last in the West with just six wins and 14 total points on the season.
The Coyotes will face off against a franchise that was in a similar position to them in the recent past, but have successfully rebuilt on the backs of some top draft picks, namely Connor McDavid, and now sit atop of the Pacific Division.
Edmonton Oilers
Connor McDavid has continued his remarkable sophomore season, leading the league in points with 24 in his 20 games played. He’s averaging 21:06 TOI per game and has been the key factor in Edmonton’s rise to first place in the West.
The game’s brightest young star has helped the Oilers to an eight place ranking in goals per game at 2.9 on the year.

Milan Lucic came over from the Bruins in the off-season and has provided some much needed toughness and grit playing alongside McDavid, earning 10 points so far while bringing a ton of playoff and winning experience.
Patrick Maroon has also been a nice fit with the Oilers in much of the same mold as Lucic, with six goals and nine points of his own along with 17 PIMS.
The defensive group has been re-shaped, and while not fully complete in the eyes of many, it has drastically improved from a season ago.
The Oilers sit in 13th in goals against at 2.6 on average and their penalty kill ranks sixth in the league with an efficiency rate of 86.2%.
Cam Talbot has been excellent between the pipes this year, looking like the long term solution to a problem that has troubled the franchise for many years.
Talbot owns a .920 SV% and 2.47 GAA to go along with his 10-7 record on the season.
Arizona Coyotes
The Coyotes are in the midst of building from the ground up under new GM, John Chyka, the youngest GM in professional sports history.
His forward thinking has landed them the likes of Jacob Chychrun, Tony DeAngelo, Lawson Crouse and Clayton Keller, all young promising players with the first two already experiencing NHL action as teenagers.
Max Domi is just 21 years old and is a star in the making, leading the Coyotes in points with 13 on the season.
His linemate that he had great success with last year, Anthony Duclair, has slumped in a major way this season to the tune of just three points in 17 games and is no longer playing alongside Domi.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson is one of the best defenseman in the league and has led the Coyotes in scoring for the past two seasons. He’s coming off of a 55 point season and currently has eight in his 17 games. He is joined on the blueline by youngsters Chychrun, Connor Murphy,
Michael Stone and Tony DeAngelo, which appears to be a promising core moving forward.
Mike Smith is the incumbent starter for the Arizona team, but is currently on the IR with a lower body injury.
Therefore, the duties have been deferred to Louis Domingue and the loss of Smith is certainly felt, as Domingue current owns a 3.37 GAA and .902 SV% this season, with a 4-8-1 record. .

Free Edmonton Oilers vs. Arizona Coyotes NHL Hockey Prediction
With Smith out, it seems likely that McDavid and the Oilers will dominate Louis Domingue despite it being a road game for Edmonton.
The Oilers have played well on the road this season and have a total goal differential of +8, compared to Arizona’s mark of -12.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Edmonton -1.5
Domingue and the Coyotes haven’t been good at all this season and Domingue has just one win in his last five tries.
Edmonton’s offense is potent and Ekman-Larsson will likely be assigned to McDavid, but the depth of the Oilers’ between Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle, and co. will be too much to handle.
