Thursday night, April 25th, brings you the start of the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs as the Dallas Stars face off against the St. Louis Blues, live from the Enterprise Center. Dallas got by Nashville 4-3 in their first round series, and St. Louis took care of the Winnipeg Jets, 4 games to 2.
Dallas Stars
The Stars will once again be trying to steal away home ice advantage with a win here in game one, just as they did in the opening round in Nashville. That win on the road to start things off really made the difference in that series, well that, and the great goaltending by Ben Bishop. RW Alexander Radulov led all Stars players in points in the first round with 4 goals and 2 assists.

Just as he was all season long, Ben Bishop was huge in goal for Dallas in the opening round. There was one game that he looked to get rattled a bit, but his 1.89 goals against average in round one tells the whole story. He will need to be just as big against these pesky Blues in round two.
Injury Report: C Mattias Janmark is listed as “probable” for Thursday night, while C Martin Hanzal and Defensemen Jamie Oleksiak, Marc Methot and Stephen Johns are all listed as “out” for Dallas.
St. Louis Blues
As the third place finisher in the Central, the Blues technically upset the second place Jets, even though they had the same amount of points on the last day of the regular season. But, the Jets were early favorites in the West to challenge for a spot in the Stanley Cup Finals this year, and were expected to waltz through their opening round against these Blues.

LW Jaden Schwartz had four goals for the Blues in the opening round and will look to stay hot against the swarming defense of the Dallas Stars. Goaltending is key to any teams Cup chances, and the Blues Jordan Binnington rose to the occasion in round one with a .908 save percentage and a 2.63 GAA. All but one of the games against the Jets was a one goal difference, and I wouldn’t expect anything less in this series either.
Injury Report: D Robert Bortuzzo is listed as “questionable” for Thursday night, while LW Sammy Blais is listed as “out” for the Blues.

Free Dallas Stars vs. St. Louis Blues NHL Prediction:
If there is any team in this years playoffs that knows how to go on a run, it’s the St. Louis Blues. They went on a nearly month long winning streak in the middle part of their schedule, and stayed pretty hot the rest of the way afterwards. But, now they have to deal with Dallas’ lock down defense and Ben Bishop in net. This series will be a great one to watch no matter which team you end up pulling for.
Take Dallas to win in game one and swipe home ice away from the Blues. St. Louis has had a few more days of rest, but that can ultimately be a bad thing in the playoffs as Dallas has more momentum heading into this game riding a hot goaltender.
