The Dallas Stars, losers of two straight, head to face a very tough Minnesota Wild team in a battle of the Central Division.
Minnesota, coming off a 1-0 shutout loss to Anaheim, will look to get back to its tough brand of offense and score some goals against a Stars team with poor goaltending.
Dallas Stars
Defense and goaltending have been the downfall of a Dallas team that looks pretty great on paper. Goaltender Antti Niemi is 10-9-4 with a 3.19 GAA while Kari Lehtonen is 12-17-6 with a 2.88 GAA.
Both are experienced netminders and neither are getting things done when they really should be.

Because of this, Dallas is second worst in the NHL in goals against, letting in a total of 187 thus far this year. Despite having a solid offense, the defense loses games for the team.
Case and point, the Stars blew a three-goal lead to Nashville the other night and ended up losing the game 5-3, with the Predators scoring four goals in the 3rd period.
The defense has to be better or good offense will be for naught. Center Tyler Seguin has been wonderful on the offensive end for Dallas, scoring 21 goals and 35 assists.
Captain Jamie Benn has been great, too. He has 19 goals and 34 assists.
Minnesota Wild
Minnesota has won four of the last six and continues to look like a contender for the Stanley Cup. Under Bruce Boudreau, the Wild have 37 wins and are looking like they’ll get many more before the regular season ends.
The team has played great hockey on both sides of the ice, relying on a mix of stifling defense and goaltending along with quick offense and an aggressive forecheck.
The goaltending has been great, too. All-Star Devan Dubnyk has a 31-10-3 record with a .933 save percentage and a 1.97 goals against average.

Offensively, Minnesota has been fantastic all year, scoring over 3.2 goals per game. Six players have scored 10 or more goals on the year, including Charlie Coyle. Coyle has 14 goals and 30 assists, including a goal and five assists over his last five games.
Captain Mikko Koivu has been solid, as well. He has 16 goals and 24 assists, including two assists over his last five games.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The OVER is 3-2 in Dallas’s last five games
- Minnesota is 4-2 SU in the last six games
Free Dallas Stars vs. Minnesota Wild NHL Hockey Prediction:
The Wild have been one of the best teams all year and, well, the Stars have not. The goaltending is much better on the Minnesota side and that should be enough of a difference maker to get the win here. Minnesota gets the W.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Minnesota ATS
Minnesota continues to have one of the best teams in the National Hockey League. Against a team like Dallas that has extremely poor goaltending, I expect a lot of goals from the Wild. I like the Minnesota money line in this one.
