Columbus, on the second night of a back-to-back after facing Toronto, head to the U.S. capital to take on the Washington Capitals in a Metropolitan Division matchup of the top two teams.
Coming off a 4-2 win over Calgary, the Capitals are looking like they’re starting to right the ship after a post-bye week slump that lasted for about 15 games. Washington will look for its third win in a row against Columbus.
Columbus Blue Jackets
With a game in hand, the Columbus Blue Jackets sit just two points behind the Washington Capitals and will look to grab a win against that team on Thursday night.
The Blue Jackets have had a stellar season, led by solid offense and fantastic defense/goaltending. In goal, Sergei Bobrovsky has had a Vezina Trophy-worthy season, posting a 39-13-4 record with a 2.04 goals against average.
The defense has helped Bobrovsky immensely and these are the reasons why Columbus ranks 2nd in the NHL in goals against, giving up just 2.31 per game.

Captain Nick Foligno has been great offensively as well. He has 24 goals and 24 assists, including two goals and an assist over his last five games.
Washington Capitals
The Capitals have gone through a slump over the past 15 games, post bye week, but are starting to look like the Capitals that are poised for a Stanley Cup run.
The team has won its last two games and will be looking for a third in a row against Columbus.
The Caps have played fantastic hockey for the majority of the season, ranking 1st in the league in goals against and 4th in the league in goals scored.
Offensively, the goal scoring has been led by right wing T.J. Oshie and captain Alex Ovechkin.
